  1. EV accidents

Below is another source that seems legit with some interesting stats. I do agree with only one thing the former Ford CEO said, and that is getting used to instant torque. I think it's pretty easy to master for most people, but maybe an even less aggressive initial throttle mapping wouldn't be a...
  2. Amazing cold weather performance in 19 degree temps thanks to preconditioning update which landed just in time

I guess Ohio has some perks (if you drive ICE), but electricity is less than 10c. I also have solar panels, but don't have excess, at least not in the winter.
  3. Amazing cold weather performance in 19 degree temps thanks to preconditioning update which landed just in time

I don't disagree with most anything you said, other than $5 gas - it think it has been closer to $3 in most of the country. And, 75' is beyond luxury here - it just would not feel right when with wind chills way into the negative. Totally agree that in the grand scheme of things, a quarter to...
  4. Tested: Preconditioning actually helps (duh) in cold weather driving!

You set the departure time, not a preheat time period. If find that I can set a fictious departure time that is at least 15 minutes later than my actual departure time and the cabin is already at 68 (parked in a 33' garage) and the battery warm enough to return 2m/kWh near zero outside temp...
  5. Amazing cold weather performance in 19 degree temps thanks to preconditioning update which landed just in time

Sorry if I rain on the parade, but consider that when taking the energy for pre-conditioning into account, things don't look so good anymore. In my case, with outside temp near zero, my garage is near freezing (33' right now). I have a 5 mile drive to work, and while I also get about 2 m/kWh...
  6. OTA 2023.50.01 Software is Out! (w/ departure & preconditioning scheduling)!

I had cabin precondition scheduled for the exact same 1/2 hr time slot as charging this morning. The result was that the cabin was warm and no charging session had been recorded.
  7. Rivian software update spotlight: Cimate Schedules & the Battery Preconditioning

I have never noticed any motor overheating with DM-P (Max) setup. (I am not sure Max battery chemistry requires a different temperature window). I usually also use 1/2 hr scheduled charging before I leave, because I believe it puts some temp in the battery (but have no good data to back that...
  8. UPDATE: Blackout lightbar decal added + applied vinyl to break up the controversial front end on my Rivian

Funny you see it. Instead of a surprised face with jaw dropped, I was going for a satisfied smirk.
  9. UPDATE: Blackout lightbar decal added + applied vinyl to break up the controversial front end on my Rivian

Thanks - I guess low ride means rubbing? I trying to find some wheel/tire combo that maintains low ride height.
  10. Mods For Less Cartoonish Front End?

Thanks for putting that picture in my head - that helps! From here on out I shall think of it as Daffy Duck with a mustache.
  11. UPDATE: Blackout lightbar decal added + applied vinyl to break up the controversial front end on my Rivian

I think they both look good. With the decal I think it looks a bit more rugged, without it's a more understated. Maybe that'll help you decide. BTW, what wheels are you running - looks a bit more offset than OEM.
  12. Rivian Tax Credit Email

I am no expert but reading the IRS text, I think if even if delivery was after April 17, and it is a company vehicle, you should be able to get the full 7500 credit for your business taxes. I am in that situation and would appreciate any qualified input.
  13. Mods For Less Cartoonish Front End?

Here is another, less radical idea. I couldn't look at my front for more than two seconds without getting croos-eyed. It now takes 10 seconds, enough to get around the truck and enjoy the rest of the exterior.
  14. UPDATE: Blackout lightbar decal added + applied vinyl to break up the controversial front end on my Rivian

I like it. Here's another, less radical idea. I couldn't look at my front end without getting cross-eyed within 2 seconds. It now takes 10 seconds - enough to get around the truck and enjoy the rest of the exterior.
  15. PC Mag - "No More EV Battery Replacements? VW's Solid State Cell Holds Up for 300K Miles"

Good news, QS stock jumped almost 50% today. This means I'm only down 90% from when I bought it!
  16. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

You are making my point. Does anybody care if my A/C pressure line is AOK at 2am? Or that the Lidar sensor is heated? An option to turn all this off on a schedule would be useful. Call it night or weekend mode. I am sure there would be a way to wake the vehicle remotely/temporarily with the...
  17. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

Here is another data point: R1T in garage for 10 days, temperature varied between 55 and 45. But, that didn't seem to matter much. I put it in shipping and service mode for the entire time. I first figured I wouldn't be able to see any stats on the phone app, but I was wrong! I was still able to...
  18. RIvian internal announcement: Software upgrade from Dual to Dual Performance available in 2024

https://www.motortrend.com/news/rivian-loss-per-vehicle/ I think these losses should be a lot less after their plant upgrade in 2024 but they need to start turning a profit within a year or so, or they'll go kaputt. I think most PDM shoppers will go for DM, thinking they will upgrade later. It...
