Clearly this is _very_ location-dependent--which means Rivian needs to get someone to do some serious resource-balancing. I just had my first SC appointment (to address a couple of minor issues identified when I took delivery). I got an appointment for a date less than a week from when I called...
That's an interesting calculator, thanks for sharing! In my case, the cost of electric energy is the same all the time. So it doesn't matter when I charge, from a cost perspective. However, one reason I got a "smart" charger with WiFi is that my electricity provider is working towards reduced...
I dunno, the airflow-tracking aspect might be too much of a good thing: my dog gets cold easily. She starts shivering if the temperature drops below about 75F. I can imagine a dog locked in a vehicle working to find a spot where they aren't getting hit by blowing air. If the airflow tracks the...
Some day, not at all soon, I think Rivian will take a page from VW and put their EDV experience to use and do something like a camper/RV/minvan. This might take the form of a partnership with VW. Just wildly speculating here. But I think there's already so much competition in the passenger-car...
Ironic that this thread appeared right now: my wife took the truck up to Iowa this week. The first charge stop (as suggested by ABRP) was a Francis location in Hannibal, MO. Prior to that, I had never even heard of this network. She called me while charging to report how annoying and...
I just got my opt-in e-mail. My VIN is about 9300, but I bought a demo unit with delivery in June, 2024, so I'm not sure what any of this means ?‍♂️ . Just sharing data. But I'm certainly looking forward to that adapter!
I think we all pretty much knew this would happen. I respect both sides' position--IP has to be zealously defended, but your shop enhanced, rather than diminished, the brand's value. There isn't an easy solution the way our IP laws are structured (and a lot of my career has been spent creating...
Thanks for the positive post! Squeaky wheels get the grease, so it's useful when a non-squeaky wheel comments on its lack of need for grease. And, of course, your salvaged vacation is the truly positive outcome! Congratulations on a great save and a big "thanks" for telling us about it!
Problem resolved! As @Riviot predicted, they are overnighting me new tags. They also e-mailed me .pdf versions which lack the dealer signature--if the signed tags that they're sending me happen not to arrive, I'm sure the unsigned ones will serve: nobody is going to look at temp tags too...
_NICE_ effin' list (leave poor Blind Melon alone!)! Inevitably, there are _thousands_ of tunes that deserve to be on any such list. But, really, _no_ "Disturbed"? And no classic "Black Sabbath"? Or did I miss something? Anyway, I certainly forgive you any lapses in light of the numerous...
All excellent suggestions and my thanks for them!
Good news is that my wife will be traveling without me--she's way more "legit" looking than I am! (I'm a retired, tenured Physics professor, she's a sculptor and part-time Art professor--I threw away all of my ties when I got tenure almost 20...
Yeah, I thought the same thing. But the fine is like a thousand dollars in Illinois! I mean, a day or so in the pokey is one thing, but a thousand bucks is quite another!
Thanks! I did reach out to Rivian this morning. The person I chatted with said they would pass along the issue to the "title and registration team," so I'm awaiting a callback from them. I hope you're correct about their ability to send the updated tag--will let you know.
The truck is a "demo"...
Maybe one of you wise folks has a helpful suggestion: we took delivery of our R1T in Virginia and drove it home to Illinois almost a month ago. When we took delivery, the folks in Richmond did all the paperwork for the vehicle to be registered and titled in IL and attached a VA temporary tag to...
In my very limited experience charging my R1T, chargers in urban areas are frequented by Lyft/Uber drivers. They need to get back on the road ASAP as their livelihood depends on it: every extra minute at the well costs them potential earnings. I suspect that this was at least partly at work in...
When I took delivery, I too was offered box water--it was a hot day and I gatefully accepted three boxes! After I got home, I got the expected questionnaire. I received exemplary service from the gang at the Richmond SC and said so on the questionnaire. But it asked about "amenities"--I gave it...
But just think: for twenty bucks you got an _awesome_ story that you can tell (one hopes with ever-growing embellishments) for _years_ to come. You also got several suggestions from experts on all sorts of new activities! ? Call it a win and chalk it all up to experience. (And now, dammit, the...
It's not entirely clear from your post whether the kid who hit your car stuck around to give you their insurance info. If you got that, then I'm not seeing a role for the police--and the other party's insurance should be involved. If they left the scene without providing you with their info, or...
