Based on a lot of anecdotal input, they roll dice to determine these costs for Rivians since they're so new--they just don't have the history that everything else out there has (which is a strong reason that I want one!). That freaks out the actuaries and they just reach...
I generally avoid baseless speculation, but it's kinda fun, I must admit, so I'll play along!
I just transferred money from several different accounts into my checking account to pay for my forthcoming delivery (what's the emoji for "psychotic-level impatience"?). If I can get anything like...
If it's still under warranty, it's their "nightmare," not yours. (In which case, it's somebody's job--it's only a nighmare for someone who could be using the time more profitably. The tech set to fix it already signed on to do whatever needs doing in exchange for what they're getting paid. No...
My wife and I are comparing the early enthusiasm, and subsequent drop, for the CT with the first "Star Trek" movie (1979): we all _wanted_ to love it! We all _expected_ to love it! The bar was as low as bars get...and they still managed to disappoint us. (Yes, same is true for "Phantom Menace,"...
The silhoutte was actually _shiny_. The metallic thread has not stood the test of time! Makes me wonder if the actual trucks are made of the same material...
When I ordered a Cybertruck back in January of 2020, I was super excited about it! All the promises (including the very attractive price for the dual-motor model) were terrific. And, while I know many people feel exactly the opposite, I loved the aesthetics (I still do--we all have different...
Here here!
I had the profound nerd pleasure of having lunch with "Guy" Bluford a few years ago (I brought a couple of my best students along, but they had the sense to stay out of my way as I went full-on fanboy). Colonel Bluford was the first African American in outer space, but his...
Since I get the impression that this forum has a disproportionate population of nerds, I figure it's worth asking if any of you will be attending the World Science Fiction Convention (AKA "Worldcon") in Glasgow, Scotland this summer? If so, let's get a beer!
I haven't done a whole lot of stuff like this, so I'd love some insight: what are the advantages/risks associated with using the trailer hitch vs. the front tow hooks or vice versa? Thanks!
:CWL:No worries! We'd hollow out the bronze (and re-use the metal--copper is _expensive_!) and mount an iron plate under the aluminum. I don't know that this would work, but it's easy to try before doing any drilling. We might just wind up doing a 3-d scan of the object and print it in plastic...
I just caught this thread and I'm sitting here thinking "wait, you put your cars in your garages?" o_O Where do you store your...y'know..crap? I have a 2500 square foot barn that might implode due to the gravitational field of the..."stuff" in it _and_ I have an ~1100 square foot (2 "car")...
Well, I figured my smooth purchase process couldn't last, but I still had hopes! We literally just sold our old truck (2003 Mazda B4000 with 112k miles and a metric buttload of rust) yesterday and came home from the bank where we'd met with the buyer when I got a text from my "guide" in Virginia...
Still three weeks from picking up my R1T, but I'm contemplating an important decision: what will be the first piece of music that we'll play as new owners of the truck? This is, of course, a decision of paramount importance: like the "establishing shot" in a movie, it initiates the right tone...
It's been less than two weeks since our test drive and only about ten days since we signed the contract on our R1T, but everyone who has heard about it is abuzz. I've had _many_ requests for rides and/or test drives from friends and neighbors (assisted, I am sure, by the presence of our current...
