I'm always impressed with RJ.
He is thoughtful, highly intelligent, and intentional.
He knows his company very well, and understands exactly what he has set out to do.
His willingness to reevaluate, on a constant basis, what needs to happen next is perfect.
Excellent leader.
I'd be an investor...
Leasing the R2 is less and less attractive, particulalry in Texas. If I am reading this right, in Texas you will pay sales tax on the full value of the car - up front - if you lease. Then if you buy it at the end of the lease, you will pay sales tax yet again on whatever the residual amount is...
You make good points for consideration, but I have looked at all those. No state income tax, and my income prevents any deduction on the auto loan. It is certainly better- considering financials only - for me to purchase. But I am still weighing the benefits of leasing…arg.
I’m kinda debating whether to buy outright or lease.
I usually buy my cars.
I can afford to pay cash.
But I am thinking I can do better if I invest that money over three years even while paying as admittedly pricey lease cost. Maybe.
And leasing does offer a bit of protection if the residual...
So which part of what I said is false?
“Global EV sales continue to rise.
What is currently happening in the US is a temporary reset of the market due to, well, short sighted political whims. We have ceded much EV technology growth to China, sadly.”

EVs are the future of personal transportation, and the EV market will continue to...
Welcome!
I am a Rivian investor as well. I think your $14K could turn into $34K within 2-3 years. I'm sitting on close to 4k shares, and have been adding to that for the last few years. My amatuer analysis came up with $34 per share target price. No guarantees, of course. Good luck to us both...
Rivian has nothing to do with the reservation tracker on this forum.
You need to update your info directly with Rivian, in your account on Rivian.com. Just FYI.
Your reservation is just a spot in line, subject to Rivian's plans. You can play with configs now, but you haven't ordered anything yet. Watch for an email from Rivian regarding your order window.
What you CAN do now is make sure your preferences are up to date.

I think I’d be interested in the front coverage. The flat front end is a target for dings and chips for sure. What might that cost? I’ve never used the stuff…
Not sure how much diff it will make on the R2, but I made a 1” smaller tire change on my Corvette, and the ride was significantly better - immediately noticeable. Had nothing but trouble with the lower profile. Now they are perfect. (in this case, I went back to the original spec. GM for some...
I will go with the 20”. I like the Black Sand wheels, and prefer the better ride that more sidewall provides. More tire choices too. I will replace the tires with AS at some point - sooner rather than later if i really dislike to stock tires, can always sell them . Been very happy with Michelin...
