No sir. Pressing the brake pedal had no effect. Didn't "wake it up". The "lower" button stays grayed out until I put it in drive (or reverse).
See 45 second video:
Weird. #shrug 🤷
Edit: Sorry I said "gas pedal" not "accelerator pedal" in the vid. Am sure one of y'all is going to call...
Y'all make me walk outside to the garage in the rain to prove I'm not losing my mind, haha. 😆
Tailgate up, vehicle in Park, "lower" option is grayed out:
Tailgate up, vehicle in Drive, "lower" option is accessible:
Without walking outside again, can you put the vehicle in Sport mode...
I'm pretty tall. The only times I ever lower my vehicle are when I'm loading something heavy into the bed, or occasionally climbing in for something, myself. So why doesn't the "manual lowering" work when the vehicle is in park? Seems pretty dumb if I'm loading something in to have to get...
This is the old "engineers aren't mechanics" saying all over again. They had the option to design this and other components to be completely cross-compatible with the R1. Another disappointing choice. 😢
I'm glad my Gen 1 has normal handles (at least from the inside), and that by the time I'm actually in the market for a new vehicle, the Chinese and other people smarter than us will have banned this kind of thing. This looks like some 💩 @Rivian 😡
Back OT, what's the long game here? I'm assuming they're planning on selling robots to other manufacturing companies? $3.4B seems an awful lot for a company that only has robots operating at one Rivian factory. #shrug 🤷
Fun to play around with. Came in at $63k configured with a ton of options. Still cheaper than I paid for my R1T. But can't spend that kind of money either way right now. 😭
Same thing when I connected my garage door opener to my Google smart speakers. It said it couldn't open the door for safety reasons. Imagine someone yelling in through an open window to open the door... 🤷😆
I asked it to put my truck in reverse, couldn't do that. 😉
Also: Update nuked my flash drive used for Gear Guard, had to remove it and wipe it with DiskPart on my computer (normal format errored out). Not a biggie, doesn't seem to be a widespread issue. 🤷
One of the first things I asked is if it had different voices. It responded something along the lines of "not yet, but hopefully in the future". I know this is like a "version 1.0" product but I mean, even my robot vacuum has different voices. 😉
That was implied. Am familiar with the service. My point was more that this is a somewhat absurd request, not a question about "what services are available in the middle of nowhere". But thanks. 🙄🙄
Came here to say this. Where's someone supposed to drive that is so remote that their truck does not get a cellular signal, but they still have WiFi that works to connect to the truck?
Are we talking a house in the middle of nowhere, or something? Geeze. ☹️
Does it understand "Hey Rivian, open the frunk?"
Or do you still need to call it a trunk, like with Alexa? 😆
Editing to add: got update, tested. It does appear to recognize "frunk". 😊
So I haven't mentioned this lately, but the upper tailgate PPF. I added this to my R1T exactly one day after taking delivery. While I wish Rivian had given us a normal "handle" or some obvious place to close the tailgate from, at least adding PPF gives some bit of protection to the spot where I...
It used to display the logo for all stations. Now it displays none. "Something" changed around two years ago. Tbh, they could just get rid of the Morse code graphic and I'd be fine. No need to display that if you can't display the proper info. #shrug 🤷
Edit: looks like it's been three...
This reminds me - it'd be nice if they'd fix the display for radio station logos. That stopped working... two years ago?
Or even just, I mean, get rid of the weird Morse code graphic. If you can't display the logo, just show the station title or something in this space:
I buy tech for a couple different companies. Drives and memory are the worst. But even stuff like this headset used to be $29.99 a few years ago. Look at it now:
It's insane. And yet people will flip their lid if they can't get R2 for $45k. 🤦
A lot of people are using various hard drives, SSD's, etc., along with a short cord and right-angle adapter, with varying success.
Personally I prefer the Samsung flash drives. Have been using this one for the past couple years, no issues:

That's kind of a thing. Although I had to turn to AI for it. I couldn't remember which of my crappy old trucks had this feature. 😉
I also remember one that had like a slide-lever, that would open a vent (to the outside?) which would blow air directly at your crotch.
I guess someone at GM...
