  1. "I would never want to be stuck waiting for an EV to charge"

Totally! Here is my math. 15,000 miles a year. ICE SUV averaged 22 mpg year round replaced by EV. 15,000/22=681 gallons gas/year in ICE. 20 gallon tank, so use 17 gallon each fill. 681/17=40.1 gas fills/year. About once a week, seems right. Time when go off route to closest gas station: 1.5...
  2. Trading in cars with Rivian is it worth it?

That's funny they looked at all. In 2022 when we traded in a Tesla 2020 X for a new 2022 Model X, Tesla didn't look at all. Zero! I kept charger and hitch extension. Use mobile charger to this day with a Tesla Tap and sold hitch for over $150. And don't worry I didn't give Elon any money for a...
  3. How to use your Rivian as a Power Bank (safe way)

I also blew the fuse AND inverter on the Gen 1 R1S. Didn't know about this pass through mode garbage on the Delta Pro 3 and while trying it out the first, time drew over 1500w. Car shut off 120 once then came back on and then blew fuse. On a second note, who at Rivian put a fuse where you have...
  4. Trading in cars with Rivian is it worth it?

Yup, understand now. I honestly never expect to get the best from a dealer. Sometime good, sometimes internet places (Carmax, Carvana, etc) are better. In our state, get a tax credit basically when trade as lowers the effective new price and only pay tax on difference. So I run the numbers and...
  5. Trading in cars with Rivian is it worth it?

Sorry, I read this as you weren't buying a Rivian, only looking to sell. The THEM got lost on me. That said I've have other dealers low ball my in trade. So I just sold to Carmax. Pretty simple to buy from dealer and then sell to Carmax if dealer isn't competive. They can offer low and I have...
  6. Trading in cars with Rivian is it worth it?

Maybe they low-balled you because you weren't buying from them and they don't want/need your used car. It is an off brand to them and might just have to go to auction. They don't have showrooms like even Carmax so have to sell an off brand car online or auction it. Not their business. Why do...
  7. New car battery question/concern

Cold doesn't hurt LI-ION batteries. CHARGING them when frozen does. And the BMS (Battery Management System) on the car will warm the battery before allowing it to be charged if it is that cold. Not to worry...
  8. New car battery question/concern

Not sure where this "under 20% is so bad" comes from. Given my choice, I sit closer to 0 than 100%. New Li-ion are made at 0% and there is Calendar Aging that happens and can be minimized by avoiding storing at high temps AND high state of charge. Don't think being close to 0 for a month is...
  9. Gen 2 R1T - No heat

A Taycan, that's a lucky wife. I dream of a 4s or faster Cross Turismo. I actually like the station wagon look and in grey think the side profile is kind of Batmobile like. Wife not keen on the idea as a summer car for me. Sat in a Mamba Green one once. Man Porsche knows how to do some colors in...
  10. ANY IDEA ASTO WHEN GEN1KEY FOBS WILL BE A AVAILABLE?

Never? But seriously. Waiting a year, it can't be high priority. Blaming supply chains or something? We all have experience with broken supply chains and even during the worst it wasn't a year. So never? I could be wrong, but I don't believe used ones can be programmed to work with your car...
  11. Parking my 2026 R1T Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) in garage and not using for 2 months

There is a huge thread on this over on TeslaMotorClub under Model 3. Li ion ages and looses capacity in 2 major ways: calendar aging and cycle aging. When sitting for 2 months like this thread asked, I look at minimizing calender aging. 2 things : temp and charge level. Cooler is better and...
  12. Purchasing advice - Gen 1 vs Gen 2

The Tick might be the front hubs. There is a service bulletin to fix that, although you said rear. Rivians are not the quietest on the highway and have some wind noise. It will Not be i4 quiet! Also, the old quads have 60k miles/ 5 year warranty so it is probably covered for a while yet.
  13. Parking my 2026 R1T Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) in garage and not using for 2 months

LFP still like middle charge for longest life. Reason to charge LFP to 100% more often is the voltage discharge curve is so flat, the BMS has a way harder time keeping track of current charge level in the middle range At 100% charge, there is a voltage increase that occurs so it knows it is at...
  14. Purchasing advice - Gen 1 vs Gen 2

If you get the G1, for automated L2 driving, one word: Comma! Install it and enjoy effective subscription-free hands- free driving experience today, not a promise of it for $50 a month. Works on unmapped roads. It has some limitations, like won't turn wheel over 90 deg, but I know them and work...
  15. $2500 Autonomy+ one time purchase now an option on Rivian configurator

Well Gen 2 owners should not pay the $2500 right now. Comma in Gen 1 is effectively Hands Free for our 3.5+ hour trip to cabin. Sure had to touch the wheel for 100 seconds total in towns where turns wheel over 90 deg were needed as 90 deg turning is a know limit on Gen 1. All this on unmapped...
  16. Gen 1 R1S quad got a silent 0-60 bump, was 3.1 now 3.0 on used R1S

Well, I stand corrected and have been underselling my '23 R1S by a tenth! I got the info from tests back in the day from C&D and other mags that did 3.1 . example: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison-test/a42108685/2023-bmw-ix-m60-vs-2022-rivian-r1s-launch-edition-compared/ So...
  17. Gen 1 R1S quad got a silent 0-60 bump, was 3.1 now 3.0 on used R1S

Looking at all original sales data and test data from '22 and' 23 C&D, Motor Trend, Rivian's own sales pitch, R1S quad did 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. 0.1 slower than a R1T. Now used 22 and 23 R1S quads are shown on Rivian's own used sales web site as 3.0 second 0-60, same as R1T now. Can I tell the...
  18. R2 Changes Since 2024 (Mike Kantorski)

I'm so torn. I loath YT influencer videos. A waist of My time 9/10 times. "Here I am, bla bla bla, watch me talk slow, talk about what I will say for 5 minutes, making this longer so you waste time and YT gives me more money". It's 16 minutes. (I opened and closed in 1 second just to see that)...
  19. Rivian PLEASE give us a VERY LOW REGEN for Conserve Mode and Snow.

Same. Big fan of dedicated winters. Ran stock 21s 1 year and almost dangerous. Switched to Dodge 20" wheels and winter rubber and the D'Rivian is now awesome in snow (using snow mode).
  20. Rivian PLEASE give us a VERY LOW REGEN for Conserve Mode and Snow.

Yup, but only loose range when brake in my mode. On long straights that might be every every 10-20 minutes. As it is now, I loose 10% constantly. Think current mode actually hurts range in the winter as pretty much forced to use Snow Mode. Feel current Low Reg is way too aggressive.
