No real off road specs yet like angles, ground clearance, etc. Or did I miss those completely? I just can’t back to ICE. Been driving an EV for over a decade.
Also, the problem with the hybrid 4 cylinder is towing capacity is 6,000lbs. I feel like it should be more.
That said, I do like the...
With keeping it simple in mind:
1) Option for windows to automatically go up when car is locked. I can do it through the app, but it's a pain and I think most folks want windows up if they're parked. I have two windows done 90% of the time while driving because I have my dog, so this is why...
I have 21” wheels. If I could do it over, would have gotten the 20” ATs, seen whether the range impact really effect me, and either kept the AT or found AS. I tend to switch for winter anyway, so I have little side account saving up for the 20” wheels.
At some point this “summer” they’ll stock...
FWIW I think they'll have an R1S shop (like the R1T shop) with near immediate access by end of the year. They're cranking on production given the VINs that are posted here.
Great photos. Not sure you really need to air down for rocks/gravel except for a softer ride. I was on dirt, gravel and smallish rock last weekend in my 21s and didn't air down...
There is no comparable EV to the R1S today. There just isn't. But folks have to write about something.
There are comparable vehicles to the R1T - like a Lightning or whatever that Hummer thing is or the CT (not really comparable, so please don't rage on me for throwing it out there).
Seats...
The Spotify suggestion was great because I do think it's one of the most well hidden options. That said, I don't think it makes a difference.
My sense from this thread is most folks would refer to the sound system as "perfectly mediocre".
Theoretically (without taking into account conditions, driving style, etc) I agree with the 21", aero, dual motor folks.
HOWEVER, I will say my R1S (quad motor) in conserve mode does "add" an extra 30-33 miles of projected range, as someone said earlier in the thread.
I do think Rivian is...
As others have said, I am an audiophile, but I am not an expert and sound is quite subjective. I have the "Rivian" system in my R1S. I actually think it's quite good with respect to range and the sound stage. I was just speaking with my friends today about how I can hear more detail in many...
I charged at Front Royal, VA RAN charger over the weekend and had the same screen as shown above and it was free. I suspect it will continue to be free until the Tesla SC network is open for all.
Front Royal RAN is in a weird spot in the parking lot of a shopping center but not close to...
The last five digits of the VIN are what people are posting ("x" instead of the last two or three numbers). Since Rivian hasn't made 100,000+ vehicles, it's just the last five as the actual VIN reads "015xxx" as an example.
I got stuck in that storm on 270 and my R1S was strong and steady. Super glad it didn't get hit by a tree, but it did get a healthy does of hail. Really impressed by the performance though - especially in the sideways rain and driving wind.
The other piece specifically to powered tonneau issue is most legacy automakers like Toyota and Ford have big aftermarket tonneau cover makers/providers. Best I can tell, most (all?) of these legacy folks don't even offer an OEM powered tonneau cover. So Rivian was trying to do something a bit...
I would say 2-3 years for a true automotive start-up. That's what it took for Tesla in my experience. I mean, the Model X had suspension issues for years after 2016 that they really never fixed permanently. The FWDs on the X sill have a ton of issues on many cars - that's 8 years. That's why...
If they're making 125/week, that would mean 500/month (yes, I am great at math). Did you mean per day? I think that's what you meant. There's no way they could have 12,6xx VIN in June and a 16,3xx last week. Mine was definitely manufactured in June, so I think 500/week is actually possible...
Again, no vehicle is perfect. I will say, my kids enjoy reclining in the second row and the don't complain about not having a footrest (nod to the EV9)...
To the person who said "captains chairs and cooled like my Kia would be great" - sure, but your Kia was not designed to go off roading in...
Rivian now uses LFP batteries as well. However, they are not identical to Tesla (or Ford or GM) batteries. As well, equally important, the software managing the batteries is different (e.g. heating/cooling batteries, when/how battery regen works, etc.). My only point was not to say one is...
