  1. Waze Integration Coming?

No. Never happening. That goes in the CarPlay and Android auto bucket. Wassym Bensaid gave reasons for using their own Nav in his Q&A in April 2023.
  2. 2024.11.2 Software Update Released! => Release Notes: Send Navigation, Mapping, Charging Feedback/Scores + Rear Display Improvements + More

This is not true per what Rivian’s Wassym Bensaid said on his Reddit account 2 years ago. That’s the account he’s responded officially from for a long time… He said quad zone. Yes, that could mean something different, I suppose. But, to your point, no one’s pointed out the parts in a tear down.
  3. Out of Spec seemingly confirms R1 refresh in about a month

We all know there’s a refresh coming and it’s very fair to expect it will include some internal tweaks. I think they’ll be noticeable as they need to increase demand. So, things like the new steering wheel and dials we saw on R2, no camp speaker but a drawer (again, saw on R2), maybe even a...
  4. 2024.11.2 Software Update Released! => Release Notes: Send Navigation, Mapping, Charging Feedback/Scores + Rear Display Improvements + More

My passengers (kids) in the second row want and need to control the temperature, not just see the temp or turn it on and off…I really hope it’s not just a display of the current temp, but that pic showing temp had no arrows…maybe you can tap through to a menu.
  5. Just test drove a Model X...

The FWDs are an issue for us. We are on our second X and have the same “ghost” sensor issues we had with our 2016 X. The new one is a 2022. They’ve replaced the door sensors but one door still stops about 15% open 80% of the time. Not helpful for carpool! Otherwise, you can’t really compare...
  6. R2 Photo Gallery - deep dive analysis

Where are the vents in the front? The ones in the R1 up front middle are where one of the gloveboxes now is. Looks like they’re using Tesla-style hidden vents in R2.
  7. Maryland FS Rivian OEM 21” Road Tires, aero covers and center caps

$2,200 OBO. Pick-up/Meet-up local DMV area only. Excellent condition. All four wheels, tires, center cap (from Rivian) and aero covers for sale. Have 7,500 miles on them, all on paved roads and normal driving. I removed aero covers at delivery - so no scratches on wheels from them. DM me if...
  8. What's your R2 predictions?

Bold Predictions - No camp speaker and a charge port in the rear, not the front. I do think it will have to have all of the features a Model Y has since it’s got to compete with a Y (I think). So it will have a glass roof, heated rear seats, etc. They can’t option the heck out of it. Makes no...
  9. 2024.03 Software Update *BETA* (Quick Controls, Individual Passenger Window Locking, Ride Feel & Ride Height Improvements & More)

I disagree. I don’t have a long list. But I know they said rear climate zones with separate temps from front (four zone, specifically) would be a feature and they still haven’t come close to making that happen. Now you’ll ask me to crawl through the interweb Time Machine to find the claim, and I...
  10. 2024.03 Software Update *BETA* (Quick Controls, Individual Passenger Window Locking, Ride Feel & Ride Height Improvements & More)

The fundamental issue with the ride being too hard for some, or not sporty enough for others, is the lack of CarPlay or Android Auto. Let’s be honest. :)
  11. Latest on Rivian's move to NACS?

Don’t hold your breath. Tesla is involved. Complain for Spring 2025.
  12. Apple engineering executive becomes new Rivian senior vice president of vehicle programs

I want to just look at my car and have it unlock. So he can bring Face or OpticID, right? No fob at all - just me. Will he be moving the charge port to underneath the car like the Magic Mouse? :)
  13. My new R1S: First thoughts

I also have a Y and do not think the ride in my R1S is rougher. It may even be smoother in my R1S and I have 20” ATs. My kids and my wife have all remarked the R1S is “less bumpy”. That said, keep in mind the Y is built on a car frame. Totally different type of car. Now, our X is a much...
  14. Porsche Macan EV Official Specs & Photos Revealed

Just way too expensive for me - but I’ve never loved Porsches. And I definitely don’t like knobs and buttons, etc. Not sure what this competes with - a Lyriq is much cheaper but nice and luxurious. Is it a BMW and Mercedes EV competitor or just an “if you love Porsches, but want EV, this is for...
  15. Wrong battery installed in my Rivian?

Gaithersburg is a solid SC. The is is too many Rivians in the DMV. Wait time is absurd. But they’re a good team.
  16. Wrong battery installed in my Rivian?

OP - why would you post here if you really had that issue? Wouldn’t you call Rivian first? Or not take delivery? At delivery, this was one of the first screens they showed me. And you are likely smart enough to check the range, which is what really matters. Not saying you’re trolling, just...
  17. Rivian-Capable Tire Shop Near DC

If you’re in Takoma Park, MD, you aren’t THAT far from the SC in Gaithersburg. Why not go there?
  18. Home Charging Best Practice - Disconnecting Cable

I just unplug it from the truck whenever. It doesn’t seem to cause an issue and it obviously stops charging when I unplug it. It doesn’t seem to have a separate lock like Teslas do that keeps the cord locked in.
  19. NACS and R2S news coming in March???

Definitely an East Coast issue. Far less Superchargers and they tend to have 8 stalls at most - even on newer ones. Some have 10. Never seen more than that and I’ve been up and done I95. Not complaining. I will take what I can get. But having had a Tesla since 2013, I have no faith in any...
  20. NACS and R2S news coming in March???

I believe Tesla will charge non-Tesla EVs a significant premium per kWh for charging. That’s where they get their return - not just getting folks to use NACS (which is a way better plug anyway). If Tesla has anything to do with the timing, it will be delayed. So think Summer as they do have an...
