Well, I can see we have wandered a bit. First, I don't hate Elon or Teslas. I have owned 3 Teslas since 2014. Beleive me, owning a Model S in 2014 was an adventure. Kept that for 4 years and traded for a Model 3 in 2018. Another great car. Then a couple of months ago during Elon's March...
The other open station was open only for a Tesla. A Rivian could not have charged there as the port is on the wrong side. I would have had to leave my R1T at the hotel charger for 13 hours.
I am on a long road trip from PHX to Blaine WA. Great RAN charging for much of the way. Kingman Az, Barstow CA, Buttonwillow CA, Santa Nella CA.
I stopped in Davis CA to visit family. Surprisingly, although Davis is a very envoronmentally conscious city, it is a void for EV charging. Lots of...
Thanks for the information. We do not do a lot of road trips. Mostly home charging at 8-10 cents a kWh. We do subscribe to EA and CP for road trips but will probably drop them now that RAN's are more available and we have Tesla access. It's not so much a few cents a kWh in savings as it is...
Thanks for all the input. Rivian plug and pay seems to be the best option. I was testing the Tesla app because I wanted to access free miles for my R1T which I now realize I cannot do. So no need to use the Tesla app. Even though RAN has good coverage on my trip, I will still need to use...
Good to know. I thought about that, but there are very convenient RAN chargers on my route, PHX-Kingman-Barstow-Buttonwood-and north along I-5 almost to Canada, so I was hoping I would not be deleting and reloading my cc from the Rivian app. The Tesla chargers are for the holes in the RAN...
OK, I just did some fine print Tesla research. Apparently the free miles are specific to the Y. Which is my wife's car and never goes anywhere! Now I just have to solve the double billing issue.
I have a long road trip coming up next week so I ordered an A2Z NACS adapter. I wanted to test it before I hit the road so I went to a Supercharger site that appeared on the Tesla app as available to non Teslas. I also have a Tesla Y so I have a Tesla account and the app. I also have 5,000...
BTW, the Tesla transaction was and fast and simple, including trade in and delivery. Best part was the $7500 tax credit was processed by Tesla delivery team and applied at point of sale.
I was an early EV adopter. A new 2014 Model S "60" with 200 miles of range. Elon punished me, and others, by bringing out the "75" a few months later at the same price as my 60 killing the value in my 60. In 2018 I traded the S for a new Model 3. My wife loved the smaller car and so did I...
I had the same experience with Lectron. Over heating. Red light on Rivian charging port that would cycle then charge but wall unit overheating. Worried I was going to fry charge port. Trashed Lectron and spent the money on a Tesla Tap. Charging at 48 amps and cool to the touch.
I don't know about worst, but not very good and can result in running out of range. I simply do not trust it. On a trip down I-5 to Seattle, it told me to turn off the freeway and then after I did, it routed me back on. Then a few weeks ago on a trip down I-5 It told me to charge in Chehalis...
BC Hydro chargers are about the fastest but they are usually 60-100kW. Chargepoint is accepted by BC Hydro chargers. Otherwise most of the thousands of chargers that the government brags about are just level 2.
I turned kneel function off. figured all that noise and movement had to be wearing something out prematurely. also don't use auto height mode anymore since lots of posts on this site indicate accelerated tire wear from lower position.
