Sounds like this feature (holding phone to door handle instead to unlock instead of using proximity unlock or manually unlocking with the app) works on Gen2 vehicles, but not Gen1, based on the replies.
Having the full warranty starting the day the truck is picked up, the $3,750 federal tax credit, low miles (mine had 27 miles on it), no previous owners, new car financing rate, and not having to wait 2 weeks for Rivian to transfer ownership into my name (in order to use the app and charge at...
This does not work for me either. I locked the doors manually on my Gen 1, then waited a minute or two and tried holding my phone (latest model Samsung Fold phone with NFC/UWB) to the driver door handle. No dice. NFC is turned on. I tried unlocking the phone, made sure the Rivian App is open...
I have a Gen 1 truck, and a Samsung Z Fold 6 (which has NFC/UWB). I keep proximity lock/unlock turned off at home. I'm going to have to try this when I get home later...
Wish I could be of more help, but I did not have a trade in for my demo purchase earlier this year. Rivian's trade in offer was much lower than even Carvana, CarMax, etc.
My 2022 was also advertised as "new" with "100 miles", but when I got there it actually only had 27 miles on the odometer...
Glad to hear you had a really positive experience with the folks at the Franklin (Nashville) service center. I'm in east Tennessee just north of Knoxville, so my closest SC is Franklin. Haven't had to use it yet in the 6 months/8.1k miles I've owned the truck, "knock on wood".
My "go to" RAN charger in Cookeville, TN just went to $0.46 from $0.36. Most Tesla chargers around here appear to be $0.51 according to the Rivian app, so whenever I get my adapter, I may be inclined use a supercharger if it's in a more convenient location...
I'm about 30 minutes north of Knoxville. I picked up a demo model El Cap LE R1T back in May.
I've been driving a company car though the week and my R1T on the weekends. On the weekends I'm running errands with it, towing my travel trailer or using it to ferry my daughter to/from Vanderbilt...
PAAK for me. I keep a key card in my wallet as back up, though.
The first few days I had my Rivian I clipped the keyfob on my belt loop like I've done with all my other vehicles, but quickly realized it was sort of redundant. It's been stored away at home ever since.
Yes, Rivian offers financing but it's likely higher interest than what you can find locally. I ended up financing through my regular credit union.
And yes, since they have never been titled they are considered "new".
You may even qualify for a point of sale EV tax credit ($3,750) if your...
Good deal: Bryce with the delivery team was especially great. Great communication.
If you end up speaking with Bryce, tell him Patrick from Tennessee said hello and had nothing but good things to say!
I drove a rental car the 6.5 hours from an Enterprise Rent-a-car in Clinton, TN to...
Following up with my progress:
I picked up my 2022 El Cap/Ocean Coast quad R1T demo on Thursday.
It was advertised to have 100 miles on the odometer, but actually only had 27 miles on it.
The truck is super clean and still had the screen protectors on all 3x screens inside. Still had the...
My progress so far:
Reserved a vehicle through the Demo Shop on Friday, May 17th. Sent a message to the Guide that I've been working with (like he instructed earlier that day if I found a model I like) so he could transfer the VIN to his supervision.
He sent the request via an email within a...
