As a bikerack user, I am definitely glad they moved to a standard hitch concept: there just so many attachments already available for standard hitches, not sure how much of a benefit moving to a new system would be.
As an VW EV owner, I would suggest they have their own issues. I've had to take my car in 8 times in less than 2 years for recalls, service issues, and follow up to poor work the first round of service. I've had to have corporate engineers come in to help fix the issues that the local shop was...
Almost every R1S I see on Carvana or CarMax is in contract, so they must feel a bit of pricing power for the Rivian brand. Great for the brand, not great for the bargain hunters.
This will be a good test to see if all those people that say they want an EV but can't afford one really want an EV. I hope they are a huge success and drive licensing demand to the JV!
I went through this same thing when someone rear ended my dad's Lincoln Towncar. It was totaled and the insurance company wanted to give 8k under the average replacement car. My dad's not great with computers, so he was having a hard time showing the difference in prices, so I pulled a few...
This is my ideal - We have the iD4 and I'm looking to get an R2 (or used R1 if i find the right deal) - I just have to convince the wife to trade her Sienna in for the R2/R1 (she would probably drive my id4). It's a hard sell on getting her to give up the minivan when we schlep around a 2 and...
This is one of the big attractions to the R2 for me - the back window opening and venting/opening of the back. Gives a really airy feel to the truck. I also agree that a sunshade/blind for the sunroof would be nice.
As an ID4 owner, I'm hoping that better design/layout and the R2's extra length will provide the extra space out family needs. The ID4 is just too small. The R1 overkill for our family needs (not to mention the extra cost for the R1$$)
I get calls from Toyota and Volkswagen about new car offers all the time as an existing customer. Not sure that's a sign of demand issues. If they can get you to buy a car every 2 years that's a win.
I wonder if this is going to help speed up the R2 development! Regardless, I recall RJ saying they were going to be strategic with their partnerships when all Apple partnership buzz was happening - maybe this is what he was talking about.
Front driver side is my least favorite spot - all the other spaces are fine with me. I maybe an outlier, but I prefer to back in to my garage/parking space and would have to re-wire the garage to get my cable to reach the front driver port. I could pull in, but I find coupling cameras with...
You also have a lot more choice/options out there for the consumers. With supply chains being a bit smoother now, Ford, Hyundai, KIA, VW, Rivian, Volvo, etc are all producing more EV's, which takes some of the market share away from Tesla. So if you have more choice, higher interest rates, and...
The Emporia has been great for me and their price point is hard to beat. They even sent a new charger handle/cord when I had a crack in the handle. App is decent and easy to use. But of the choices you listed, I would lean towards the Tesla universal.
