I had my EVSEs listed as "publicly available" on PlugShare for four years.
I never once had someone use it who wasn't a member of my household, or a friend or family member opportunity charging while visiting.
Nobody's going to plug in to a random house's EVSE.
No...
and yes.
Do they happen *often*? No.
But when they happen, they're a big deal to the person it happened to. Big enough that people are very likely to post about it. And since there are hundreds of thousands of Rivians on the road, having driven billions of miles; even one happening...
They have mobile service techs based in areas quite a distance from service centers - thus while that mobile tech may not go 500+ miles, there could be one of these mobile techs within mobile tech service radius.
Far closer to R2 than any other similar-market EV.
8.3 inches clearance.
No, it's no R2, and definitely no R1S, but it's way more of an offroad vehicle than pretty much any other non-Rivian EV wagon/SUV. (Barring the absolutely ridiculously priced things like the Mercedes G-wagen.) Which...
Oregon has Tripcheck.com, which I do check before the trip - but it doesn't help when I'm actively going over the pass with no cell reception. And weather/road conditions can change quickly in winter.
AM has "local information broadcast that isn't available on any streaming service". Mountain pass information, traffic information, local event information.
That's literally the only time I use AM, but when I need to listen to those, I need AM.
My Tesla got the MCU2 upgrade, but not the FM...
That's my point - Gen 1 should be capable of far more than it is. Other carmakers use the exact same hardware and do more with it.
My Mach-E could do lane centering on any well-marked road, not just premapped highways. It could adjust speed automatically when it passed a speed limit sign...
Yep, it’s the same MobilEye hardware as Tesla Autopilot 1.0 and Ford’s ADAS on Mach-E vehicles without BlueCruise hardware. Both of those can do lane-centering on any road with well-defined lines.
Rivian is just choosing not to put in the development to enable it.
You absolutely should have received an email confirmation:
It would have come from "[email protected]" with a subject line "Good news. Your R2 reservation is in!"
This is shocking. Especially since this means it will require a Connect+ subscription to listen to anything other than Bluetooth.
My old used Tesla is missing AM+FM because it got the MCU2 upgrade but *NOT* the radio upgrade (MCU2 uses a different radio module than MCU1, and upgrading the radio...
Hardware is not software.
Actual real physical things have to be ordered and delivered and assembled. Minimizing the number of variables early on allows them to concentrate on achieving volume deliveries early.
Once the "rush of people whose needs and wants fit the early limited selection of...
So…..
You're still on the forum just to shit on Rivian after getting rid of yours?
Meanines on here because you're just trolling. Inflammatory title, just a link as primary post.
Yes, Rivian is a startup. Yes, they have teething pains. To be blunt - you should have known that going in. If...
