  1. Are you still in love with your LFP battery?

Let's agree to disagree. We see the issue very differently.
  2. Are you still in love with your LFP battery?

I'd never said that the vehicle would not be serviceable or that its useless. My original point is that the vehicle will not be able to do things newer models can, especially as a SW defined vehicle. Unlike old fashion ICE vehicles where the mechanical running was the vehicle, most new...
  3. Are you still in love with your LFP battery?

Technically, this is not true. Gen 2 is better made than Gen 1. Gen 1 R1 vehicles were the first vehicle Rivian made so much improvements are incorporated into gen 2 and further improvements going into R2.
  4. Are you still in love with your LFP battery?

Okay if you say so. I think this statement says it all. Btw, have you read any threads here about how Gen 1 is being neglected compared to Gen 2? It only gets worse as the time goes on.
  5. Are you still in love with your LFP battery?

Just a thought for your consideration. EVs are fundamentally different than ICE and require different paradigm. ALL EVs are effectively a laptop with wheels and SW defined vehicles. As EVs age, so do all the computing and battery capacity. Forget thinking that battery can be...
  6. What Would Make You Dump Your R1 for an R2

I'm also in the "nothing" camp. They serve different purposes and I don't have a need for R2 class of SUV.
  7. 2026 Rivian R2 Specs & Reviews!! 300+ Mile Range, 10-80% Charge in 30 Min, 656 hp / 609 lb-ft, 0-60 mph in 3.6s, dimensions

The best thing I've read about the R2: "Taking the freeway out of Irvine, heading for the hills, the R2 breezes the cruise; quiet, quick when you need it to be and utterly composed. The steering’s already standout, with more weight and feel than is typical for a car of this type. Accurate and...
  8. Solid-state battery race accelerates

From Automotive News Europe: https://www.autonews.com/ev/ane-ev-solid-state-batteries-factorial-0210/ By Lois Jones February 10, 2026 05:37 AM EST The solid-state battery race is intensifying as two key players reached big milestones as the industry sprints toward commercial launch. On Feb 4...
  9. R2 Range Estimates

These numbers would be fine in 2022, not in 2026. If R2 only delivered these ranges, it would be very inadequate in the segment it will compete in.
  10. R2 Sales of 70,000 in 2026'? What the Magic Number?

Since the R2 delivery is not a full year, and they have enough cash and cash equivalents to get through this year, its the 2027 delivery that matters. They may not. Its a make-it-or-break-it time for Rivian.
  11. Buttons on steering wheels

Just when we thought all the variations have been covered, wait... The Ferrari Luce has an interior designed by Apple’s Jony Ive https://www.evo.co.uk/ferrari/206888/the-ferrari-luce-has-an-interior-designed-by-apples-jony-ive-we-take-a-look
  12. R2 deliveries begin in April?

Well, since the 2025Q4 earnings call is on the 12th, this Thursday, we'll all know then. I'm sure R2 will come up and be a big part of going forward discussion. https://rivian.com/newsroom/article/rivian-releases-q4-2025-production-and-delivery-figures
  13. R1 Gen 3 - Wish list

Gen 3 should only happen when the solid state battery is implemented with 800V+ architecture to lighten the vehicle. Making 200kWh battery using today's technology will only make the R1 weight more than it already should be. It not the battery size, it's the range you get from it. Getting...
  14. NMC VS LFP Battery Safety - any experts out there?

Unfortunately one cannot fight ignorance or worse, fear that they are emotionally attached to. Moving may be the best option. I know it sounds drastic but if you want solar, the only solution maybe moving to more rational community.
  15. When will the US get true fast charging?

You do realize that fast charging requires vehicles to be able to accept higher voltage; hence, allows current (amps) to flow faster for the same given charger capability, right? This is why many of us cry out for 800V+ architecture for the vehicle. The current infrastructure (mostly Tesla...
  16. Proposed California EV Rebate Program Would Benefit Rivian Sales [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

I wished what you say is true. It simply is not. As someone who loves the trains (got married on the restored 1936 FDR campaign train car) I've been on TGV, EuroStar and the Shinkansen, would love nothing more than being able to take the train between LA and SF. Unfortunately this will not...
  17. Proposed California EV Rebate Program Would Benefit Rivian Sales [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Haha, what bullet train from LA to SF??? The heavily over ran and behind schedule high speed rail goes through the central CA and nowhere near any metropolitan cities (SoCal or Bay Area). Its between north of Bakersfield to Madera (between Fresno and Merced). If one is trying go between SF...
  18. Proposed California EV Rebate Program Would Benefit Rivian Sales [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

As an over 9% CA state tax payer, I am not ok with my part of the tax going toward this. Additionally, if the proposal had no category but in terms of absolute cost limit, say $50K regardless of make/model, with the income restriction of the median household income (~$100K), then it would...
  19. Proposed California EV Rebate Program Would Benefit Rivian Sales [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

The tax credit is a windfall for people that can afford to purchase $80K eSUV/eTruck. Yes I did take the credit in the past since it was there - didn't need it or influenced my decision to get an EV. In other words, it was a waste by the government because I wasn't going to leave the money on...
