  1. Driver Side Rear Quarter Panel Window Exploded

This is a difficult situation since they're going on your word. The photos do appear to show prior damage and/or an impact. It wouldn't hurt to go to a physical Rivian service center to have them look. Going by photos alone is difficult and I find it odd they would just dismiss it so quickly...
  2. "I would never want to be stuck waiting for an EV to charge"

First of all, Costco gas lines are always long. "Normal" gas typically never has a wait. Maybe 5 minutes tops. Second, it is extremely difficult to change people's mindsets, and impossible if you're just an EV hater. You know the types who just comments on EV posts just to rile people up...
  3. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

I mean...as long as it has Carplay, amirite?
  4. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Perhaps, which is why I will reserve my decision until after the Scout is released and we see what tech it has. I live in the US, so unless the tech is available here, it is irrelevant what China or Europe has developed. They could have cold fusion powered hover cars, but if our administration...
  5. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Of course I can't find any references now, but I'm positive I heard more than one EV manufacturer explicitly state they don't really need to prioritize battery tech improvements for over 300 miles of range. Car manufacturers are in the business to make money and you make money when you can...
  6. New to forums and Rivian - want to discuss my pre-purchase concerns

Since I have a bit of time, I'll try my best to answer and comment on each of your points. Source: Rivian R1S owner for 3+ years. Had a Tesla Model S before this. But also am an enthusiast in general with ICE "fun cars" like M3, 911s, X5M, and tons of motorcycles. I've instructed during...
  7. Door moldings to prevent body ding

Do you have a photo of what you're talking about? If it is what I think it is, many older vehicles have this but they are very ineffective due to large variances in height on the other vehicle that may hit you. These will be very unsightly on a Rivian and I would not recommend it. Park...
  8. Scout Launch Delayed to 2028: Report [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Maybe I'm the minority here, but I don't see range increasing more than ~300 miles or so, nor do I feel manufacturers care to prioritize that as 99.9% of people don't need nearly that much. But if you're going to be building an overlanding/off road focused vehicle, you need that range for...
  9. How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian?

Earlier in this thread, my answer was, "When the Scout gets released and I see what its capabilities are." Now that Scout may be delayed/not happen, I'm not so sure. I don't tend to keep my daily drivers more than 3-4 years and as the Rivian ages and gets out of warranty, things could get...
  10. What Actually Fails First in Real-World Rivian Ownership

Ask for them to secure a loaner or a rental for you. I always do. If I have a loaner Rivian, keep my car for 2 months, I don't care. My wife's Hyundai was in the shop (it's 1 year old!) for a little over 2 weeks but they gave us a brand new Hyundai as a loaner. We didn't mind.
  11. A good time to own an EV - Gas Prices about to go nuts [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

Cries in California. We've been at low to mid $5s forever now haha. That feeling when your buddies in other parts of the country talk about gas in the $2 range. :'( Fortunately: - I have a Rivian eV - My wife drives an ICE car but maybe 5-8 miles a day only - I have a road legal dirt bike...
  12. Received 12V Battery Warning - Looking for some advice

Coincidentally I was proactively called by Rivian to swap out my 12V. Mobile appoint is tomorrow. Never got a warning and the last time I was in service (maybe a year ago?) I asked about it and they said only a certain range of VIN numbers would be impacted and I was not in the range. But...
  13. Flat Tire on a 7,000+ lb EV: What’s Your Plan and Tools?

I haven't had a spare tire in the last 5-6 cars I've had. And no flats in the last ~15 years [knocks on wood]. I do worry sometimes on longer trips or if I venture off road. On road, I have AAA and off road, well I try to keep it to areas I can manage (I don't rock crawl) and where there are...
  14. What Actually Fails First in Real-World Rivian Ownership

I only have two minor complaints, if i can even call them that. 1. Edge case range anxiety. If I want to do some off roading, all the trails are 2+ hours away which means I have to drive there, use up valuable range, and charge up again before the trail which is usually far from chargers...
  15. Got up close with Rivian R2 last week

I had one at my house a couple of times (buddy works there, and he's the one driving in many of the "spy shots" in SoCal). Looks real nice and when compared to an R1S next to it, is significantly smaller. I'm a fan, and a reservation holder, but ultimately probably not a buyer since I do...
  16. Train Crossing Arm hit my car

That's totally up to you and how you value appearance, and/or cost. If it were me, I would 100% repair it. Zero hesitation. Every little ding/scratch/etc I would repair because that's me. I don't know how much it would cost to repair yours, but you can consider looking into comprehensive...
  17. Moab Trail Recommendations- stock 22”

EDIT: Sorry, I posted a long response but realized you asked what Moab trails to hit with your tires. Not what your tires can/can't handle on those trails. I'm not familiar with Moab trails. Sorry.
  18. Scout Launch Delayed to 2028: Report [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Thanks, I did see that one actually. To me, that sounds like they are refuting the claim. Then again, if it was actually untrue, it would be a much more forceful statement.
  19. Scout Launch Delayed to 2028: Report [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

I think I commented on the first page. Now that we're up to 10 pages and the Scout forum also has a ton of posts on the same topic..... It is my understanding that all this sparked from some translated German article. A day or so later, all the online media/AI scrapers started making their...
