I appreciate that. I’m just trying to go against the justification that so many have used for why one truck should or should not get something as simple as some decently basic gauges.
I agree with all of that except the last part. This idea that the non-performance dual motor is “bare bones” is off. It’s the exact same truck, just less horsepower. It’s not like it has a better interior or suspension or battery or anything. Its the same
Yeah, I don’t think they did a risk/ reward calculation for this decision. I doubt if they’d sell more performance or duals because you get a couple extra gauges and information but you risk pissing a lot of customers off by creating an experience disparity.
I contacted customer service today and got the pre produced answer that it was for the quad motors only. They created a service ticket for me and I uploaded an image of the release. It doesn’t seem to be a bug according to Rivian.
Had they been transparent in the release that the gauges were...
Yes they did explicitly say everyone was getting the new drive modes app WITH gauges. It’s right there in the press release. Let me put it here for you to see:
Again, the quad is not $30k more than the similarly appointed dual. It’s an $8k difference. Your stance really seems more about how your truck with the quad is better than the dual than actual trim level differences. They are the same trim levels, Adventure is the trim level, the only difference...
I think this is different than Apple CarPlay. This is about an unadvertised disparity across different drive trains within the same trim level. It’s not that I really care that I can’t see my battery temp or have a compass. It’s about the promise of one thing and delivery of another. I love my...
Exactly, the difference paid is for power train differences. It was never explicit that similar trims across different power trains would be treated so differently. Having more modes for quads makes sense from a hardware perspective (you can do more precise maneuvering with a quad) but to then...
Also for anybody saying that Rivian didn’t promise the new gauge mode for everyone, they absolutely did. This is from the Rivian email announcing the update:
I think you are confused between what trim levels are and what added options are. ALL of the current R1Ts are the same trim level (Adventure) with added options for additional motors, upgraded motor software, and colors. My standard dual motor is the same trim level as anybody’s quad. It’s...
