I really like his videos too. I'd recommend paying attention to how he says they handle, because for many an understeering car would be preferred. So, you need to look at more than just the best time.
I also really like that he puts other sample tires from other categories for comparison.
Note...
At the time when Elon announced the Cybertruck and the new Roadster, I got the impression that he was planning on just doubling the current Model S/X battery size to about 200 kwh. Given that, the range numbers weren't all that difficult to believe. It also could be how they plan on having an...
This video compares the snow performance of basically the Rivian OEM 20" AT tires to the previous Michelin Defender LTX MS tires showing that the Michelins are quite a bit better in the snow even though they aren't 3 peak rated.
Here's the warmer weather test for comparison:
There was another thread like this a few months back. Severe alignment issues should be resolved, but it seems the Rivian has a little better "steering feel/feedback" than some other vehicles in it's class and that can manifest itself as drifting to the right on roads that are crowned (i.e. all...
Also, it should be noted about the test above that I think those are the previous generation Michelin Defender tires, not the new M/S2. I haven't seen any testing on the new ones, but they usually get better in all ways.
Also, @EVerywhere , how did you lift the wheels and tires up that high...
I see a lot of max packs in the R1 shop. So, I wonder if it's allowed them to open up capacity by eliminating the bottle neck of the large pack, similar to now they have dual motor instead of just quad motor that unlocks other bottlenecks. It seems like we'll get some good feedback very shortly.
That seems like a really good price. I hope by the time I'm looking someone else is getting rid of their 21" wheels for a similar price. But, I don't plan on getting my Rivian for about a year. Seems premature to get it now.
I'm going to try to answer my own question:
"
Can I file my amended return electronically for previous tax years?
You can amend tax year 2020, tax year 2021 and tax year 2022 Forms 1040 and 1040-SR returns electronically at this time.
Additionally, amended Form 1040-NR and corrected Form...
I've been wondering this as well. Could I delay my order until next year or the year after and still claim rebate on my 2022 tax return?
Is this maybe dependent on the IRS limitation on amending tax returns?
One thing Tesla is doing off the bat is putting in the giga casting front and rear frames. That can save a lot of cost. They're also likely taking lessons learned from their other most recent improvements of their other vehicles. So, it does seem likely that the frame, powertrain and controls...
This is what I feared a few months ago when I was looking through the details of the dual. They were only going to add additional drive modes and 'performance' features if you pony up for $5k for the performance. It at least makes the $5k more worth it. I switched to Quad after that. But, I...
This makes a lot of sense. They were supposedly production quantity constrained with the quads. And I suspect most of the backlog are quads. So, if someone wants a vehicle sooner, they can configure a dual, or get one from the R1 Shop.
Good find.
I read through the abstract and it clearly states that they're adding a clutch in between the two motors. It makes me wonder if they might do that with the Bosch. They had lots of schematics that we could use to compare between the Bosch and internal enduro designs to see which one...
Thanks for finding this and pointing to the exact location in the video!
"A future drive unit that we haven't announced.... a really high performance drive unit ... quad motor setup ... in this case we're doing some durability testing on a future yet to be announced drive unit".
It doesn't...
If the Rivian can make a quad motor based on the enduro motor, it might cost less to make (after NRE) and they'd be able to charge more for it. If they could fit it into the same space as their current motors, it'd be just like swapping Bosch quad to Rivian dual. That seems like a profit making...
I also forget the name of the thread. But one person showed pictures of two narrow car seats (not Diono) in place while the passenger side seat was tilted forward for third row access.
2 newfs and a great pyrenees is a lot of dog! I'd call those extra large dogs. I've got one small newf (95 pounds) that hangs out on the floor behind the front seats of my model 3 right now with car seats keeping him down there. He's comfy enough. I've had two newfs back there a couple times on...
I know this isn't Rivian related, but it's related to getting the full use out of your vehicle. Here I am in my Model S hiding under a 13', really wide christmas tree. :D
I drove home slowly on local roads and still used 700 wh/mile, aka about 1.5 mile/kwh.
Can you point to the test where they got 72% of the EPA range? I don't see it.
I do see inconsistencies in their testing. As they also tested the R1T with 22" tires and probably in All Purpose drive mode at 280 miles. The EPA for 22" is 303 miles. They don't really publish any details about...
