  1. AT&T brings 5G connectivity to Rivian R2

So, if I understand correctly, the 411 on the 1st Gen R2 is that the BEV SUV has 5G, V8 power without the CO2, RWD or AWD with AT or AS tires, a Gen 2 AI software stack at launch, but Gen 3 hardware perhaps as early as Q4, but more likely Q1+ (but will Rivan FAB chip RAP1 powering ACM3 with...
  2. R3X cargo area extension patent

Silly engineers, they always assume people will, for instance, buy the extension walls, take the time to install them temporarily, ensure they are latched securely according the detail instruction manual before loading any cargo -- rather than simply throw it in the back and tell junior to hold...
  3. RAN reaches 1,000+ charging stalls (40% YoY increase)

I believe MI has more RAN chargers than the rest of the midwest combined. Even in IL, where Rivians are born, there's just 2 in the whole state, and not one in or near Chicago, the third largest city in the entire country. Ponder that for a minute.
  4. RAN reaches 1,000+ charging stalls (40% YoY increase)

Let me guess, 90% of the new chargers are in California within a few miles of existing RAN chargers. ;) Crickets in the far northern planes and in a wide band along the Ohio river to the Mississippi. And everyone always forgets about Alaska and Hawaii.
  5. R2 as our only car

I bought an R1T last August. It is my only vehicle. I charge it once or twice a week at home on a level two charger. I rarely charge it to 100% as it is a max pack with 420 miles of range, and you can extend the life of your battery if you don’t keep it at 100% all the time. Charging to 50 to...
  6. In the world of Luce, The Rivian R3X could shine

I doubt Ferrari will go the way of Pontiac, but you never know...
  7. 500-800 miles from Service Center......from those with Rivian experience....how risky will this be?

FWIW, the last three new vehicles I purchased were: a Honda CRX Si, a Nissan Murano, and a Nissan Pathfinder. I drove each vehicle for ~10 years and never experienced a major manufacturing defect. The worst was having to replace the spider gear on the Honda after an ill advised attempt to...
  8. Forest Edge Interior Package Announced for Limited Run

Unless you really need the quad for some unknown reason, I think you will be very happy with the extended range you get from the dual max pack. The older we get, the less the need to do 0 to 60 in under 2 1/2 seconds, and the more you do 0 to 60 in that time, the older it gets.
  9. 500-800 miles from Service Center......from those with Rivian experience....how risky will this be?

One test I had performed in the past when evaluating a new company is that I will call them up on the phone. Depending on the number they give you, this will either send you directly to sales or to a phone tree where you press one for sales two for service, etc. I first contact the sales office...
  10. Forest Edge Interior Package Announced for Limited Run

I find tan interiors quite elegant, even though I am smitten with Rivian's Forest Edge. It's hard to beat or get more iconic than deep-dark green with a tan interior. Is this not the epitome of "old money?"
  11. Forest Edge Interior Package Announced for Limited Run

IMHO, this is the most fire interior for the R1. I am so happy Rivian is offering it again, yet so, so jelly that they are doing so 10 months after ordering my 2026 R1T :(
  12. Back in an R1T after a few years away...

So glad you're happy to be back in a new R1T. I agree that it is the better vehicle over the S, at least for me. I would highly recommend getting a roof shade before we get into the heat of summer, and keep the windshield covered when parked -- that has a very noticeable effect on cabin...
  13. As you might have guessed.... higher gas prices has increased interest in EVs [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

So, an update; EV sales are up pretty much everywhere except US, where they are down as of Q1 2026. Here's a link to a a round up of articles on global EV sales.
  14. Ferrari Luce?????

So, wading into this pot and kettle styling discussion, I'll offer some subjective observations. I was never a big fan of many of Ferrari's designs because a lot of them seemed too ostentatious, wildly screaming for attention, and even a little clunky (take the iconic Enzo, the Testarosa, etc.)...
  15. Ferrari Luce?????

Ok, so in terms of styling, the Luce looks nothing like the F40, the 250 GTO, the Enzo and certainly not the Testarosa. And I'll agree that the looks don't send me swooning. But if you're familiar with less iconic Ferrari models, the Luce isn't far from: their Purosangue SUV - yes, Ferrari...
  16. Frozen R2 shows rear wiper in "Up" position for ice / snow conditions (built-in heater at work)

They R2’s rear window is a power window that “rolls down“ into the tailgate. and, inverting Tesla’s patented camera wiper design would put the wiper at the top of the dome and help mitigate debris from collecting in and around the wiper. I would not be surprised if Elon nicks the entire...
  17. In the world of Luce, The Rivian R3X could shine

Well, this is a curious fan-boy post with a thesis that on the surface seems dubious, if not delusional. A venn diagram of the market for any Ferrari and that of Rivian would have a very small overlap. The premise suffers from the conceit that those who purchase Ferrari vehicles do so for the...
  18. Frozen R2 shows rear wiper in "Up" position for ice / snow conditions (built-in heater at work)

So actually, while the rear view camera in my R1T is the best rear view camera I have owned, it is susceptible to rain and dirt. I really think Rivian ought to employ the same rotating visor technology they use in televised auto racing to either clean continually or as needed. Yes, it's...
