  1. Preventing Accidental App Actions

Thanks for confirming that I am not the only dummy to do this. It was rather embarrassing to explain to the security guards that it was my fault. They were very polite and professional. And also a bit disappointed as they were initially convinced that they interrupted a thief who had cloned my...
  2. Preventing Accidental App Actions

Yes the app will notify you, eventually. This all happened just before I returned to the garage. I’m not sure how long it takes, but the app does wait awhile before pushing notifications about open doors and such. Thanks for lock screen tip. I have a well-developed reflex for squeezing the...
  3. Preventing Accidental App Actions

So, it appears that I butt-dialed my R1T this afternoon. I went to the gym after work. When I returned to the office parking garage there were two security guards standing next to my truck. The tailgate was down, hood open, windows vented and the right gear tunnel door unlocked (not fully...
  4. 2026 BMW iX3 launches as R2 competitor

^^this^^ BMW will sell a bunch of these. The X3 is the 2nd best selling vehicle in their lineup after the X5. Current BMW loyalists will be less likely to gag at the styling. More EV owners and more EVs on the road will help to shed the lingering doubts of ICE traditionalists.
  5. Random Rivian Photos of the Day - Post Yours! šŸ“ø

I80 westbound from Tahoe is typically bumper to bumper on Labor Day due to the holiday weekend traffic plus the mass exodus from Burning Man. A careful comparison with Google Maps and the Rivian route planner this afternoon estimated that the off-road route was going to be 15 minutes shorter...
  6. What’s your “can’t live without it” Rivian accessory?

I have both a tailgate pad and a hitch rack. The pad is an inexpensive one I bought off eBay, not the fancy Rivian pad. It is the most convenient and gets the most use. Definitely on my list of ā€˜can’t live without’ accessories. I do have a small dimple on the tailgate from the fork crown, likely...
  7. What’s your “can’t live without it” Rivian accessory?

Interrobang tonneau cover. Well, technically, Interrobang slides and instructions generously shared by @Bf3 that I used to make my own.
  8. So at what mileage did everyone ditch these 20" inch Pirellis?

31.8k miles on my OEM Pirelli AT’s Swore I was going to replace them 3 months and 5k miles ago when I swapped from winter wheels and tires back to summer tires. But was motivated to defer the expense and squeeze a few more miles out of the Pirellis. Now they are due for another rotation...
  9. Tour of Rivian Engineering Facility Lab in Palo Alto (by Out of Spec)

Five observations: This was 2-hours well spent. This is the best Out of Spec video I have ever seen. Normally, Kyle pitches a lot of hype about inane details. This contains a lot more substance. Never mind that it covers a lot of ground that has already been reported Vidya is kick-ass. She...
  10. New Rivian OEM drawer installed on Gen1

The drawer works on Gen1 even though the site says it is for Gen2 only. Some have reported that it requires a firm shove to lock into place on a Gen1 vehicle. Mine is worked on the first try.
  11. New Rivian OEM drawer installed on Gen1

Thanks @dngo for the tip. I got tired of hearing the camp speaker’s constant connect/disconnect noises and ordered a Rivian drawer. The drawer arrived today. It slid right into the dock and locked into place flawlessly.
  12. Cybertruck Laugh of the Day [āš ļø WARNING: NO POLITICS; MEMBERS BANNED]

There also seems to be a correlation with mistaking large water bodies for drivable surfaces.
  13. Update 2025.06 is out!

Agreed that it would be nice to give a bit more flexibility for wheel and tire weights and sizes. In the end I opted for 20ā€ dark wheels with aftermarket winter tires as the best approximation for my EV Sportline R1000 wheels with Hakka LT3 tires. Probably close enough.?ā€ā™‚ļø I do like that it...
  14. Rivian headlights at night in snowstorm = zero visibility

I have not yet experienced the misfortune of a night drive in really heavy snow. However I have noted near zero visibility in dense fog once. At the time it did seem like the light bar was contributing to a fair amount of the glare. If I encountered these conditions regularly I would be inclined...
  15. "A mirage take shape Feb 19" - Rivian teasers [for new California Dune color?]

Well, clearly those need to be replaced with Pacific Sunset and Serpentine (the CA state rock).
  16. 20" Inch What are your top 3 priorities for replacement tires?

You forgot noise. Hoping for an AT that doesn’t howl after a few thousand miles.
  17. Drifting Into the Weekend Aftermath

I tried to have some fun in an empty ski resort parking lot after dinner a couple weeks ago. The spoil-sport teenagers in the back seat just yelled at me. Should have kicked them out to take some videos. BTW, drift mode works great for this. :like:
  18. Buying R1T Tomorrow - Torn Between Two - Any input?

Very limited tire options in the 21" size. As in, only a couple of choices. By comparison there are lots of great options in the 20" size and a good number of options in the 22" size.
