There's a lot of money in the world looking for places to go/projects to invest in. If Rivian can demonstrate gross profitability, they'll have no trouble raising capital.
Reviving this thread since I'm also planning a trip to Death Valley — @Rasputin do you know if the RV park at Stovepipe Wells is still active? The website listed on PlugShare is down, and I can't seem to find any other official website/place to book.
Do you know if that park has NEMA 14-50...
On my drive this morning, it was 57 outside, HVAC was set to 66, and my car felt more like 66 than 57. Climate control screen showed snowflake icons though.
I've heard from Chase that you have to wait 90 days from the day you take delivery before you can buy out the lease, but I haven't personally tried to buy it out yet.
It'll depend on your exact numbers. Last I've seen, residuals for 3-year leases were around 59–61%; 2-year leases were in the...
Probably … based on the numbers in my contract, any down payment of about $18k or more (YMMV) will result in a rent charge of less than $7500 minus lease origination fee. But if your car is totaled while it’s still being leased, you won’t get your down payment back, so that’s the risk you’re taking.
I'm running Wildpeak AT3Ws, 275/60R20. It's a D-load rating at this size (the 275/65R20 is E-load and much heavier). I usually get around 1.9–2.2 miles/kWh when driving on dry highways around 70–75mph in mid-40s to mid-50s weather.
I'm really curious about the Toyo Open Country EV tire, since...
200 real miles in a single charge is definitely realistic for a quad motor with a large pack. 250 is probably doable, although it might be a stretch if it's wet or cold, or if you have AT tires on.
As a data point, my worst range on the highway was on a rainy 40-degree morning (cold for coastal...
Reduce the lag/stutter when switching from light mode to dark mode — with the camera view on, if I'm driving into a garage, the camera feed freezes for a few seconds while the screen switches from light to dark mode, which is a problem when I'm coming to a narrow part of the garage just as that...
About the same power-to-weight though (~350hp in my 2020 Model 3, ~650hp in my PDM R1T, although less than that in All-Purpose).
I was mostly talking about the pedal response curve though. As far as I can tell, the Rivian feeds in power on an "ease in" curve that can lag behind the pedal if...
I only get squeaking if the wipers are running on dry glass (I often control my wipers manually because I usually want my wipers running faster than auto-wipers will make them go)
Unexpected vibrations always make me a little nervous (makes me wonder if I've broken something, have a flat tire, etc), but good to know that I'm not the only one with this. I already have a service appointment scheduled in a few months; I'm thinking I might as well file a service request and...
I drove through some heavy rain this weekend, and noticed that I could feel the windshield wipers through the accelerator pedal — there's a "bump" in the pedal when the wipers change direction at both ends of its travel. It's most noticeable at the highest wiper setting; less so on the lower...
I have a Performance Dual — haven't compared it to a non-Performance, but acceleration in All Purpose is a tad sluggish IMO. Between the throttle response curve and the down-rated motor output (vs Sport mode), it definitely doesn't have the same pick-up-and-go feel from my previous Model 3. The...
My data point: I got aftermarket wheels installed last week. The new sensors (aftermarket, OEM-spec from Atomic Wheels) never registered on my 15-mile/20-ish minute drive back home, but they did start showing up about 5 miles in a drive the next day.
I've only done city driving so far but my efficiency hasn't been very good. I'm on the 21-inch wheels with tires at 49–50PSI.

@buffaloNYR1T you're saying you'll see your Rivian lease account alongside your other Chase accounts (credit cards, checking accounts, etc)? That's good to know.
@Eric9610 from my lease contract, section 32: "To purchase the Vehicle, you must pay the sum of (a) … the Adjusted Lease Balance plus...
