If you have a way to do the express shipping for less than $1000 for point to point, please let me know.
I was told that only DHL accepts this kind of parcel and the oversize charge is around $200 for express.
I just cut out an opening manually on my cap and I think it works great. Please excuse my hand carving skill, there was not enough space for the router to sit flat for a clean cut. For water proofing, I got a 1/4" acrylic in place.
For the production version, It will be a 2" by 1" cutout in...
The current solution would be to cut out a 2 inch hole at the exact location and replace it with glass/acrylic. This is doable in the current production but will push the date back a little bit.
The aero changes dramatically even if the cap is just raised by an inch or two which affects the efficiency by quite a bit. I recall install the crossbar on the roof and my consumption went from 2.3mile/kwh down to ~ 2.1mile/kwh. It may not seem significant but every so often you needed that...
The Roof Rail is fixed, but it can hold 450lbs static load. I think it's best to add a platform for a more uniformed load. I can probably put my rack platform up there later to see how it looks.
That's a very good idea of getting the eye bolt instead. It just needs to be M10 60mm.
For the production version, the two middle mounting point will be shifted so that it aligns with the bed.
Yes this will block the bed camera.
efficiency wise, I do not see a quantifiable difference, which I assume it will be within 5% since it is mounted flush to the truck.
On a good day ~80F, I can get about 2.3miles/kwh. local driving more towards 2.5miles/kwh.
On a cold day ~28F, I am getting...
The cap is at the same level as the roof so I don't think the rack lines up with the crossbar, but I think you can add platform to make it level. I am going to take a picture later today.
