It has *a lot* of party tricks, maybe it's just because it's new but all my friends love to see it because it's pretty quirky. It's also stupid fast and overall handles way better than it has any right to (though at a bit of a penalty to ride quality.)
At the same time it's not super "look at...
Hey everyone,
Hoping someone here knows a trick here - I got my truck just yesterday and as I was driving off into the sunset (quite literally) I tried to use the cruise and got an error "Cameras unable to see ahead, cruise control not available".
I've heard it's a thing in some cars with...
Delivered today - VIN 11xxx
With a couple exceptions, everything is fine. I went over it in depth before accepting delivery, but everything lined up better than I expected from what I've heard, and I haven't had unusual noises/vibrations/issues. Tailgate/hood/tonneau/vents all work, other doors...
Frankly with the aerodynamics of the truck I doubt the manual tonneau would make any noticeable difference, trucks with tailgates up really don't suffer much because the air flows over the bed region anyway. If it has other side functions (tables, etc) that could be cool, but from their...
I don't think a Bronco is going to be 29k for that kind of damage.
It's not great news for those of us who have to rely on insurance. Rivian insurance quoted me double what my last carrier did so I didn't switch, but that may be a necessity with what people are getting quoted for repair work...
Frankly this just seems like stupid engineering. Almost ever car uses a single unified 12V system, and this has a HVDC battery to back it up, why the heck would they engineer 2 separate circuits and add another 30lb battery?
The difference between a reasonable person and an unreasonable one is very much driven by society and expectations.
Millions of people ride bicycles.
Very few people drive cars that would require $20,000 dent repair.
Insurance absolutely can fight something that's unreasonable, and...
You don't care about the price but it does create the situation where the opposing insurance isn't going to be too happy about it and they're going to fight you.
If I drove a glass car and someone hit it, it will be completely destroyed and it would be their fault, but any reasonable person...
20k for a dent. Unreal
Seeing the way people drive out here it makes me wonder if I should just keep my subaru instead, paying for premium gas is much less than this...
Are you actually finding a shop willing to mount those? Some are hassling people over not having an H rating (even though the trucks are limited to 110, below what a T would be able to do.) Also it seems silly 'minimum' load would be 115, since that correlates to roughly 10,500lbs on a vehicle...
I hope you actually get an answer. Load range 115 is 2679lbs per corner, easily one ton over the Rivian's GVWR... I can't see why a tire shop would have a problem with it.
Does the mechanism of the charge port door just twist it straight open where it ramps out or does it need to 'pop out' first. I couldn't make it out too clearly in a video.
I'd hope it's the former, one continous motion would seem more reliable and less likely to get blocked by ice.
Seems pretty silly since we're limited to 115, A T rated tire is good for 118. And there's always a safety margin your tire doesn't explode at exactly 118mph.
Also I don't think I can buy Y-rated snows even though my car came with Ys, the liability argument is bunk. I'm the driver, I own the...
What is this about a power steering pump? Doesn't it just have electric power steering like every other car these days?
Pumps were only really used because they could be mechanically driven off an engine, which this doesn't have.
Hopefully they'll learn eventually, as it stands this really is more for the whole foods adventure than anything really remote. Sometimes things break, and people have to have a way to override or fix it because there's no one to do it for you in the places where real 'adventures' happen.
I got a VIN assigned about 1-2 weeks ago and was set to take delivery Saturday but was informed today they need to hold it for some kind of paint re-work, a bit concerning I hope they can actually show me what it was.
I just got the same message, was all set to pick up saturday. It's pretty frustrating because I already had to pull my insurance effective date forward to cover this coming in earlier but now they're saying it's not ready. Figure this stuff out before you tell me, please Rivian!
Wish I knew...
I'm not sure if this is sarcasm because it really feels like it. Would solve a bunch of these problems it's not like it's some massive hassle to hit a button, and it's not worth 30-100kWh a month to not have to.
