This would constantly (at least it seemed like it) when I would address questions about emissions and photovoltaic energy. For me, it is similar to buildings and falls into the “embodied energy” category. Different but still very important to consider.
I have been out of the industry for a few years and the technologies have changed. Basically there are “grid-tied” systems and “grid-interactive” systems. A grid- tied system will only operate when it sees a grid signal. Thus, when the grid is down, it will not operate even if solar input. A...
Yes, SolarEdge has been offering this for awhile. I just saw on another forum that Enphase will be offering an AEV charging unit. We installed a number of SolarEdge systems and liked them, but none with the EV charging unit as I was phasing out of the business.
As a retired PV designer and installer, I find this all very interesting and I will need to gather more information and get educated on it. One thing that I think that I can say for certain is that you do not want the vehicle to be interacting with the utility grid. There is more than one way...
This is not true for me. Pre-order was 2/2/2022 (prior to price increase). On latest update, I went from “Processing Estimate“ to “April - May“ delivery.
R1T 2 February 2023 pre-order. Just got my update. Went from “Processing Estimate “ to “April-May Estimated Delivery “. I am pretty ok with that.
I worked in photovoltaics for tw years and could help you out with production/consumption numbers but it looks like that has been covered in a couple of posts. What I would suggest is going to energysage.com. There you can get PV information and quotes from PV contractors, both local and...
I had a good discussion with my Guide today and it seems that what may be holding up my delivery date is the Black Mountain (non-wood) interior. According to her, there is no word as to when this option may be available. Can anyone shed light on this?
A couple of tips for those using wood products for a tonneau cover.
If you are you are using dimensional boards, you should be able to get pine 1x6 V-groove, T&G , 1x6 or 1x8 boards. They will be typically V-groove on one side and flush on the other. More-or-less #2.
For plywood I would...
I worked in the PV industry for twenty years. Initially, I would receive a number of inquiries from potential customers who were interested but “wanted to wait until the the panels were 50% efficient”. After some discussion about the theoretical maximum efficiency, I would tell them that if...
Nice 10 gauge cord. The critical factor is voltage drop. In the PV industry, 2% or less is the typical factor. There are online calculators to figure this. I am guessing that a 10 gauge, 50’ cord would be good for ~30 amps or more.
I, too, am looking for a set of inexpensive rims that I can use with snow tires, either Nokias or Michelin. Since I have never been too keen on aluminum rims, I would definitely consider a set of steel rims. Maybe pop some Moons or Baby Moons on them. Has anyone looked into this?
Thank you Mygrain and Lens.
I am hoping to take delivery of R1T early or mid next year. I guess that it is a crap shoo as to whether funds will be available at that point.
I stopped by many years ago on my way home from a PV install we were doing in Malta. Got the private tour thank you. Perhaps I will stop by when I get my R1T…..
I hung with the manual cover until about three weeks ago (2/2022 pre-order). When I talked to the local R1T owner, I realized that I could deal with a power cover if it meant sooner delivery. He thinks that they will have dual motors on the power cover at some point. Since I do not expect...
On Kesslinger Rd.? With PV array?
I had manual cover but a local Rivian owner convinced me that a power cover was much better choice for an earlier delivery. Just need and looking forward to getting my R1T.
