I've always felt the old tax credit law was better. If the whole thing is really about climate and pollution does mother nature really care where the vehicle was assembled, or where the battery minerals came from? Plus it would have reduced the bill cost dramatically if it was just about...
Rivian has done lots of $hitty things. This being just one. For instance they are legally obligated under the terms of THEIR warranty to fix the tonneau covers every time they broke. They decided not to and dared people to sue (btw, if you did sue their atty is in California and will settle)...
Please keep posting your results. Not sure how the Riv and the app give such different results. I just drove a 250 mile (pretty flat & inconsequential wind) round trip on the interstate (73 mph speedometer) and had 11 percent of the battery left. 38 degrees, after market 20s, conserve mode and...
And if you are a resident amount you pay counts as an income tax credit. Sounds like a "tax the tourist" gig that all states try and do. Don't blame them.
Assume you must not be far from Pensacola. How is public charging there? We vaca to Pensacola Beach every February; thinking if taking the Riv this time.
I question whether new vehicles are getting tested/inspected any more before delivery. Obviously the pack was bad from the beginning. I would ask Rivian what test they performed to make sure the repaired version isn't bad. Then ask why it wasn't done originally. We had similar experience with...
Counting my appointment tomorrow I have had 10 appoints for my R1T at the Normal SC. 41 items will have been addressed. I have never had a bad experience with the group at Normal. The bad thing is the 10 appointments???. Over the phone there isn't anything else they can do except tell you to...
Please don't interpret my comments as defending the nav system. It is terrible. My point is the miles remaining will always be a guess. Just like in an ICE vehicle. The miles remaining in the nav is designed to never get you close to stranded and the GoM will always tell you the same miles left...
If you want even a somewhat accurate estimate you can't look at the miles left on either screen. Know how far you have driven and watch the battery percentage. It's cold here this morning and I just used 10 percent of my battery to go 25 miles. Obviously that means if I half my battery left I...
The only I've ever owned that is close to this bad was in our Lexus 450h. Blaming it on the user is ridiculous. All we are supposed to do is enter the destination. Assuming that is done correctly it shouldn't suddenly tell me to get off I-35 and head 25 miles west when my destination is 30 miles...
I would get the one you are looking at no matter the tires. I got the AT because they looked better (IMO), but the performance for my use stunk. Noisy and cost 10 percent range/efficiency compared to 21s. If you don't off road avoid 20s.
I think I'm finally over my EV range obsession. They all go far enough for daily driving. On trips the availability and speed of DCFC is much more important. The range we can go has too many variables to argue over.
I hope it works that way, but can't believe that will last. Why wouldn't all those manufacturers just "lease" all production to the wholly owned affiliate, claim the tax credit and let the affiliate sell them at $6,000 (of the 7500) less? Sign me up if this is how it will work. Hope you are right.
I'm not sure who "most ev manufacturers" are who are doing leases. I work for the largest single pickup buyer in the United States because of our leasing program (we have a purchase advantage). I've probably leased a thousand pickup trucks for our commercial finance customers, and in that arena...
I had a similar issue. Set compressor to 48psi and filled tires. Gage in the cabin says 52. Checked with a digital pressure gage and said 48. Trusting the digital.
I would also like a power tonneau that worked. I'm not sure how many "truck people" are buying Rivian R1Ts either (although I am one). If it was our farms only truck I wouldn't own it. It is a drive around vehicle not a work truck. CT might be more of a work truck than Rivian, but definitely...
This answer will be interesting because of the tax credit. A conditional sales contract won't qualify for the $7500. Most leases you can prepay, but it is the sum of the lease payments. I doubt Rivian will risk recapture of the $7500/truck by letting people sign a document with "lease" at the...
