22 cent per kwh would be great.. but even with PG&E's rate for EV owners, you end up paying much more.. 32-51 cents per kwh. In the summertime, the peak costs are up to 64 cent. That is as of now and there will be at least one other rate hike until we get to summer 2025..
Makes me wonder if...
Seems like the Cybertruck needs some big incentive to sell..
Won't push me to buy one, even though the electricity rates in California are getting crazy high.
Will Rivian offer sth like this later in 2025 to push R1 Quad Sales? :D
*Customers who purchase or lease a new Foundation Series...
Thank you for sharing this!
Had the 295/65/20 size on my shortlist along with the the Toyo 285/70/20 - which do have an even larger diameter.. After watching your video it looks like there will be too much rubbing with those sizes and the stock rims @ standard ride height.
--> Probably better...
Thank you for trying this size and reporting your experience!
I think I'll try them on stock 20" AT wheels in about 6-9month - when my Pirellis are done :)
Upgrading from my Gen1, I would be looking for a much better suspension setup as this is the main flaw with the Gen1 imho. That and the super laggy Infotainment.. :/
My hope would be that a Gen3 Quad R1TX or sth like that comes out and is a bit more special that the Gen2 Quad
I'm also not a fan of the headlight design - agree the Scout looks better from the front.
Still think the R1s looks great overall, but would look even better with a sleeker front light design
True, Rivian might need a brand extension first :)
I think it's a good idea - at least until the battery tech gives us better ranges and faster charging. Clearly an interim solution, but much better than the typical hybrid concepts.. If Rivian would offer it as an option, I would buy it and...
Got my R1T 2+ years ago and now stating to pay 150 USD per year for the connectivity doesn't bother me at all.
If it is not worth it for some folks, don't do it. It won't brick your vehicle :)
High electricity prices are the real issue with EV ownership imho..
imho, Rivian should give folks until end of 2024 to use the voucher on any R1. After that, issue refunds for deposits and get those open transactions off the books.
Great questions and structure, but even better answers and reactions from RJ.
I really appreciate how he gives mindful insights on so many levels from leadership, corp/finance, industry and product while sounding approachable and fun.
$53,600 for my 2022 R1T QM with 14k miles
I guess I might get 7-10k more selling it on my own right know, since is has all the offroad stuff, meridian and the 12v frunk :D.. but it's still huge depreciation imho. My out the door price was $90,346 -$7,500 tax credit = $82,846 and it's paid off...
They should not open reservations before announcing the starting price and rough production timeline. Keeping the pricing open will give them some flexibility and they can avoid price hike limbo like they did with the R1..
I assume they will start taking reservations around Q3 2025, if they...
Not talking about it keeps it open for now.
I assume that they need to stick to 400v as long as R1 is at 400v - to buy components in higher numbers and get better prices from their suppliers.
If they introduce the R2 with 800+V they'll move the whole portfolio up with R1 refresh before I guess.
Not sure how much room for performance bumps the motors have, but to optimize for max total output, I think they'll keep the quad motor setup for now, but will get rid of the Bosch units
Oh OK. Bummer, I would have probably paid for it and I would actually also not mind paying for the adapter.
But anyway, with the front left charging port location on the vehicle, I assume that the Tesla Network charing experience will always be a bit annoying
