Nice job!
Thank you for taking the time to post such a detailed "review" of your impressions. Sincerely appreciated.
I'll look into the threads and make sure they are breaking the sharps for future runs.
You're correct. The fill ports and sprayer hatch were originally on the other side, but...
Domestic hot water should be fine unless you have it set to some crazy high temp. Just parking your truck with sunshine on the hood for a few hours will get water warm enough--especially if you're coming out of the ocean.
None that I would want to be liable for recommending. It's a plastic tank designed to hold water. Not a water heater. You can certainly pump water from it to a device specifically designed to heat water, but you shouldn't heat water to bathing temperature inside the tank.
And for doing the Funky Chicken!!! lol
Yeah that was pretty funny--though when I was watching the video the first time and he said "jump up and down" I admit I did hold my breath--stand on and jump up and down are two different things =)
There are several ways to do it. You could leave the tank warmer plugged in to keep your tank from freezing, and when you need water swap to the pumps power cord. You could use a Y harness, etc.
To be clear, a tank heater just provides enough heat to keep the water from freezing. It doesn't...
We do have a water heater project in the works. Roof mounted with solar. You may have been thinking of that?
We have also discussed a tank heater for this tank and winter camping in our forums.
Just to avoid any potential confusion--for people in general not just you--I designed the tank to replace the frunk shelf. By that I mean that anyone concerned that they can't store stuff on top of the tank like they would the frunk shelf, I would not be surprised if the tank can actually...
Jeff mentions this in the video below. He is going to be testing it a bit next week if the weather in Portland cooperates. Ill be interested to see what he learns myself as 12 gallons of water is a fairly large thermal mass.
Back of napkin:
From a physics perspective it takes 8.33 BTU's to...
Just a quick update now that the W[=0===0=]TR is shipping. In case any of you missed the email on the instruction manual pdf, you can find it at the link below.

***UPDATE*** This is a repost of the latest update email Marsha sent out
Hello everyone in the 12 gal Frunk Tank Group

It's been a while since the last update—mostly because there hasn't been a lot to report.

Reservations are technically closed, but won't be officially "locked" until the mold tooling reaches the factory. I don't have an exact date for that yet so you can still email Marsha HERE to place a reservation for the first run up to that point.
A quick update on the 12 Gal Frunk Tank project. We just pulled the first sample part from the mold tooling and it looks awesome. As an FYI, the sample is in white to make any issues more visible--production parts will be the water tank blue shown in my earlier posts.
Sorry, I didn't see this. The Frunk Tank is already entering production so I assume you mean the cooler? The last time I looked it was just over 130. You can see / follow the latest counts for all the projects on the news chyron at the top of our forum home page HERE
People seem to have a wide range of expectations around powered 12VDC coolers. Mine align with yours. These are not intended to work exactly like your home refrigerator or the chest freezer in your garage. Physics still apply. If you fill the cooler with room temperature items, set both...
