I’ve been having a tax credit discussion with my brother-in-law and we’ve read various descriptions of how the credit works…we differ on each of our interpretations.
So when it comes to $7,500 ev tax credit, does it apply to my gross federal taxable liability or to the unsettled amount of my...
I put a deposit on a launch edition. My build was about $74,000...now $87,000. I was torn between the Rivian and a Bronco (which I also have an order for). My build with the Bronco is about $55,000. The Rivian at $74,000 - $7,500 tax break ($66,500) was at the top end of my budget for a car but...
so what’s the solution for this if you want to do more than 10-20 miles in a remote area and no charger near. Also, we are not including the added weight of the extras you might need to carry on an adventure like food/drinks, tent (RTT are heavier than ground ones), other gear. In that video...
Just posted about this in another thread…start video at 23 minutes but entire video is really good. But really curious about their calculations…if those numbers make sense a charging station at the trail won’t matter.
In my next car I really want to tackle the Trans New Jersey Trail...
Here’s an interesting clip…start at 23 minutes.
They are in a 4xE, road range on electric is about 27 miles and they only got 3 on trail.
maybe I should post this in a battery thread to understand it better but do their calculations make sense on battery life while off roading?
I agree with this definition. I also wouldn’t want two cars if one is 75K+. R1S I totally see as the family choice/less interested in “adventures.”
I think, for me, I want the Bronco Off Rodeo but for Rivian. I want to feel part of community. I really love what Ford is doing on that end.
I...
Any place with bears I’ve always kept my food/cooking area separate from my sleeping area. These guys talking about storing food in the frunk will have a bear in their roof top tent.

Not sure I like that the Rivian doesn’t look that much bigger/taller than the mustang in Kneel mode. I was looking at a Raptor yesterday and it was parked next to a Mach-E and that thing towers over the mustang.
I would agree on this timing. Not sure about the catching fire part, they have so many pre production models out I think we would have seen that happen by now…?
You put it in a much better way than I did. And although I love the idea of the kitchen and I “want” it because it’s cool anybody who’s ever been camping knows it’s not a good idea to cook and store food right next to where you sleep. Unless you plan to sleep with one eye open and shotgun.
I was hoping to have the concept art and the picture of the truck in my driveway framed together. I think maybe for me the long wait, not knowning the actual colors or how it feels, and the competition heating up is very distracting.
I agree completely on the infrastructure piece and I’m...
no, I just spend a lot of time in that particular area…just doesn’t feel like the right location in my area to get me excited about my new car. The Seattle/Bellevue city location makes perfect sense. So it’s not a gatekeeping city thing at all at least in my mind.
I totally agree on your second...
I really love the R1T but I can’t help think about all I’ve been taught about camping/nature. For example, where you sleep and where you eat/store food should not be in the same location.
And with some of the “showroom” locations, Brooklyn for example…it seems like this is going to be the truck...
I'm in north jersey also, we'll be the only two people here driving R1T's lol. I don't think we'll have many options beyond our garages for a while unless you want to visit the supermarket chargers.
We need to get the state to give us that 5K rebate though...
