  1. EV accidents

Around here stop lights are in color, but people have very greyscale action towards them.
  2. EV accidents

They're not Traffic law Enforcement isn't the same as it used to be. This has brought out the worst in people, and you see it on the roads. The zombie apocalypse is very much under way where people have less brains than they used to. Some claim its covid related, but I think it started well...
  3. Consumer Reports 10 Most Satisfying Cars and SUVs for 2023 -- R1T & R1S Both Make List

The lows do seem way off from what I expect from actual owners. Like I expect an actual owner to have more complaints about the lack of consistency of regenerative braking than the intrusiveness of it. I do expect a small percentage of owners to hate regen braking where they want a option for...
  4. Consumer Reports 10 Most Satisfying Cars and SUVs for 2023 -- R1T & R1S Both Make List

This is the kind of result that's really hard to explain to non-owners. Where they see how unreliable it is and they question the sanity of owners who say they'd buy it again. I'm part of the 12% that wouldn't buy again, but I can see a person would buy it again. If it wasn't for the dreaded...
  5. Air Compressor overinflating

I had the same thing happen. I didn't do anything different. I think what happens is the pre-set times out or something like that. I just need to make sure I set the limit each time for each tire.
  6. EV accidents

I think there is a lot of things at play. Mileage - I imagine quite a few EV's are driven more then there ice counterpart due to lower cost per mile. The more miles the more likely an accident. A large majority of EV's are Tesla's, and Tesla owners are known to really abuse their driver...
  7. Snow socks on ice -- impressive performance

How can I look at your wheels? You put socks on them. :P Looks like you went with Easysock ES84
  8. Rivian doesn't cost less to drive on long trips

What I like about electricity cost is you have better control over it. If the cost of electricity goes up you can look into making your own (solar, wind, etc). At least if you own a home and the majority of your driving is local. With gas you're at the mercy of others. As a low efficiency EV...
  9. Rivian BREAK IN caught on gear guard camera video

I'm trying to figure out who the real thief is here. The one who broke into your car or Rivian with how expensive it is to fix. It's as if Rivian doesn't really understand who their customer base is. The R1S is extremely popular among families for obvious reasons. I imagine most families are...
  10. Snow socks on ice -- impressive performance

Anyone use snow socks on 21's? I'm hoping to go that route. In a different thread someone mentioned buying the Autosock 870 for the 21s, but I need to confirm that it will work.
  11. "Park brake performance reduced on steep grades" -- new since 2023.50.01?

I think they increased the sensitivity for this warning. I'm starting to get this in my drive way which has a very gentle slope. So gentle that its more about drainage than an actual slope. It only happened on the new released. It has coincided with a cold snap so it could be the cold weather...
  12. Accidentally Reset Lifetime Trip Meter

I screwed up big time because I used the Trip A as the Lifetime and Trip B as the one I reset. But, then Rivian decided to show trip A by default in the gauge view. I do need to submit a ticket to request a "since last charged" trip meter as that's all I really care about.
  13. Is your R1T your first EV and/or first truck?

Third EV My first vehicle that tocks First Ridgeline like pretend truck. :p Edit: I forgot that my state has an RTA exemption for heavy trucks. So yeah its my first REAL truck. :)
  14. Hertz to sell 1/3 of its EV fleet

A few months ago I wanted to rent a Tesla to drive down to San Diego, but Hertz doesn't allow you to drop an EV off at a different location than you picked it up. So this made renting an EV a no-go. I've also heard they have very draconian rules on needing to return it with nearly 100% full...
  15. mapbox MapGPT?

I don't think the whole Alexa thing matters for Rivian. I for one look forwards to telling navigation "No, I don't want to go that way" and having it reroute me to the way I actually want to go. I also look forwards to chiding it for doing stupid things like making me take an uncontrolled left...
  16. New EPA rule drives Tesla to change EPA range estimates.... will it affect Rivians?

With an ICE vehicle I'd expect any Sport mode to be excluded from any MPG. At the same time I'd be a bit upset if I could only reach the advertised MPG if I used some special conserve mode.
  17. Virginia Rough Rivian Wanted

Do I get it back if I loan it to you for $42K? What's the worst that could happen? :P
  18. Near Hit with Video

In the PNW that's called a Tuesday. Near 50% cell phone usage while driving At least 5% potheads Around 7% with their tabs expired A dash cam isn't just a good idea, but an essential item. Here has been my experience with the drive cam: Seems to work almost flawlessly when I eject the...
  19. Ultimate RAN Stations Thread List (Wiki) -- locations, reviews, quirks, tips, etc.

Oregon is doing pretty good as well. A few more on the east side and there won't be much range issue in Oregon.
  20. New EPA rule drives Tesla to change EPA range estimates.... will it affect Rivians?

I'm not sure I really understand the point of averaging drive modes. In fact I think this does a customer a disservice because it makes a vehicle out to be less capable than it is if used correctly. In any case it looks like Rivian might already average them. When I charge to 100% in...
