I agree, so far the light output is great on those, can't wait to test them in the field.
For quick disconnect I am using Delphi-style connectors because wiring kit already came pre wired with those. The important part is to avoid cheap knockoffs from the Amazon, but get it from reputable...
This is my "work in progress" setup. Unfortunately didn't have much time to finish the wiring, but my plan is to tuck wires in the panel gaps, and use wireless switch as well.
The idea is to mount them during off road trips, and remove during everyday driving...
It appears in the video the strap is not parallel to the ground, and based on the angle it gives Ford an advantage. Its hard to see, could you confirm?
If that is the case Ford is "lifting" Rivian off the ground and transferring its weight onto itself.
Because you would need more energy to achieve and maintain same level of comfort in a Rivian (or any vehicle for that matter) as you would in a home. Therefore it is not an apples to apples comparison.
Thanks for the insight, I've always wanted to know how Rivian would compare to other luxury brands.
I have to say that coming from SRT Durango, I also miss the sound of the exhaust, those popping sounds it made when downshifting... ?
However, the turbine whine of quad motors is pretty cool...
Congrats! What's your impression of R1S coming from G63?
I changed my preorder from R1T to R1S because of its shorter wheelbase, and improved maneuverability. Which helps off road.
I asked about scheduled maintenance when took delivery and I was told besides tire rotation there will be a required coolant flush (for batteries I presume), but they haven't worked out the time interval yet.
Also it still has a gear oil, that would need to be changed at some point in time...
Here is my data point, hope it would be helpful to someone:
I had a chance to observe battery drain over 8 day period.
Left the truck in covered parking structure, unplugged with 81% (226mi)
I didn't check the app, Gear guard was enabled (low foot traffic area), 8 days later:
Came back to 72%...
Hello, appreciate you sharing this information. In the past I've applied Dynomat to every panel I could access on my old 4Runner, even roof and floor. And it made a huge difference, so I understand how this must have felt for you.
With my current R1S I feel like it is quite enough for me, but I...
I've read through the jump starting section of the "new" manual and it hasn't changed since I read it back in January. The only thing I see that's different is jacking car with new (mid 2023 and later version) jack kit, page 12.
Am I missing something?
This may not be apples to apples, but I've had Continental ExtrimeContact on my previous truck and they were a lot better than stock Pirelli on that same vehicle.
However, they were $400 each, so maybe you get what you pay for.
I experienced the same issue with the seats. Coming from Dodge Durango, the vented seats underperform by a big margin.
Anyhow, I submitted a ticket because there is now way it is this bad by design, got a call from service center asking for a video…
okay…
