In fairness to the OP, I'm thinking the issue is less about Rivian's shortcomings and more about why they chose to release a homemade, yet subpar feature, when the baseline is already established in the field. This is akin to releasing a new CD player that also reads .mp3s into a world that's...
I LOL'd. Great write up.
This falls well within Rivian's modus operandi of "reinvent things that function as if it's 2013, then gradually improve it so we can talk about how we are constantly improving." The first few iterations of the Rivian nav system was just like this. And don't get...
Same. I had the 21" Pirellis and just changed them out for Michelin Defenders at 38k+. I probably could've gone longer but missed a tire rotation cycle. One tire was too far gone, and my 5th spare was close to the same fate.
Similar experience. The lack of hassle and additional effort made it worth it (to me). Any additional I could've made via private sale would've been offset by having to small-talk, answer questions, and go on test drives with potential buyers.
I LOL'd at your post.
As a now-retired DJ who moved a bunch of gear every week, I heartily co-sign your comments, esp the part where the R1T seems to have been designed by people who have never really done "truck stuff" (I'd even argue, "driven before" when it comes to some features). The...
- Two-way tailgate (see: Honda Ridgeline).
- Openable/closeable rear window (see: practically all other trucks)
- USB playback. BT is a step backward. I understand Apple OS doesn't play well with others, but this boomer 2001 tech circumvents that issue.
- Tactile feedback (real buttons...
Ancillary comment alert: I wish Rivian implemented the two-way tailgate Honda uses on the Ridgeline. Having owned the latter, I can vouch for its usefulness. While it didn't solve all the issues, it solved a lot of them
Make the important touchscreen buttons (i.e. defrost) larger so you don't have to work so hard to find things while driving. Larger target = easier to tap. Windows fogging while driving in torrential rain at night is a bad bad time to take your eyes off the road because you keep missing the...
I got something ~very~ similar, but with one compartment being insulated(ish). The whole thing is great for groceries. My only gripe was that it blocked the frunk lights, making it harder to find things at night. I installed some lights on the hood to remedy.
Yeah, I'm with you, but also yes, I just turned off Auto. What bugs me about that is having to double-tap the switch to actually traverse the menu. It's just one more thing you have to do while driving. Not a showstopper, but is annoying
