The green charging indicator lights turn off when the vehicle is locked. If you want, you can disable them entirely if you turn off the Exterior Sequence Lighting in the vehicle settings menu.
I agree with some of this statement, but the Bird's Eye View is something that Tesla owners have been requesting for years and they still don't have it. If it was easy they would have done this 5+ years ago.
They didn’t mention to me if is was RF, but I have to imagine it is. There wouldn’t need to have any specific hardware if the signal was sent over LTE/data/Wi-Fi for a MyQ type application. They specifically called out that the hardware is there. I’m sure we will find out soon enough, sounds...
FYI, CS confirmed that the truck has the hardware for a garage door opener (not sure if it is Homelink specifically or something else) but has not been enabled in the software yet. This is coming in a future OTA.
Hmmm… you’re right. I guess it’s possible they removed if from the overall vehicle manual and plan on including it in the infotainment information. Just speculating since we haven’t seen a guide for the infotainment system yet.
Adapter+extension cable is likely going to = significantly reduced charging speeds. We will have to wait and see but Tesla level 3 SC's have a liquid cooled cable to support +250 kw charging. Its likely that if an adapter and extension cable were even possible (likely to be very expensive)...
Agreed, only real solution to this problem is going to involve Tesla retrofitting almost all existing SC locations, which could take years, if it ever actually happens. They were never designed to be open to non-teslas. I was initially excited to hear Tesla was going to open their SC network...
When a Tesla backs into a supercharger spot, they plug into the charger on the drivers side of the vehicle. If an R1T pulls in head first, the drivers side of the vehicle is now on opposite side of the stall. The supercharger cable is gonna be 5 feet short...
The connector is only half the problem with Tesla superchargers. The cable length IMO is a much bigger problem, they are just barely long enough to connect to a Tesla. Rivian’s charge port is on the opposite side of the vehicle. Only way to plug in would be to occupy the adjacent stall and plug...
Per the owners manual, there is an integrated garage door opener. See page 17.
