But there was a demand problem back in Nov/Dec when 3s and Ys were piling up on inventory and Tesla cut prices $7500 then cut prices again in Jan 2023. Same with other EVs that were piling up on lots in late 2022 - ID.4s, Mach-Es, EV6s, Ioniq 5s. I know because dealers were offering them to me...
Not really. It's growing yes but in the US it's not growing 50% YoY like before (growth is much slower) and more importantly... Toyota and other carmakers were production constrained for most of 2022.
If Toyota could produce 100K RAV4 Primes they would have no trouble selling that many in the US.
I love my EVs but EV demand is very finite - especially in Florida. Tesla is hitting that wall. EV6s, Ioniq 5s, ID.4s, iXs, etc sit on lots at MSRP. Many have $7500 lease credit or regular tax credits too. I mean they sell after a few weeks but they don’t sell instantly like a RAV4 Hybrid would...
EV6 wholesale prices should be in the toilet because you can buy dozens of GT-Line AWDs at MSRP on lots across the country (especially Florida where they sit and have to be discounted $2-3K).
My guess is an EV6 FE wholesales around $46K. I've see used FEs listed at that price here in Florida...
Model X demand isn't that great and Model S demand has it's limits too (sedans are not high demand cars, tons available, horrible 30% depreciation in a year).
Folks want SUVs. I think the R1S will outsell the Model S, X, and R1T.
I dunno about the Polestar 2 being reliable. Too many TCAM issues.
The entire Volvo/Polestar EV lineup seems incredibly inefficient with poor efficiency numbers. Underengineered dare I say. I love the one pedal of the Polestar 2 as it is the most refined of all EVs I’ve experienced - and I’ve...
That's crazy. It could be your location doesn't have a service center.
My late summer 2021 R1S order has an ETA of July-Sept 2023. I'm in Orlando where there is a SC and plenty of Rivian deliveries. I see Rivians all the the fricking time.
Your statements are contradictory. Tesla is probably bleeding some amount of money on Superchargers so adding more non-Tesla EVs just causes even more bleeding. Superchargers are already FULL in many parts of CA and FL. They might be under utilized in the midwest and states where EV adoption is...
Folks who were waiting for the EV9 or Ioniq 7 would definitely jump on board with the EX90. Lots of folks who want a normal 3 row SUV that’s no different from an ICE SUV.
The Rivian R1S is more like Tesla… not a traditional car or SUV per se. I can imagine your middle aged soccer mom being...
I think this comment is a bit delusional. If DC charging was so profitable you would see everybody building chargers at every corner like how new cryptocurrencies popped up every week. DC charging is capital intensive and profits are non existent given how low per kWh rates are (surge charges...
Having owned a Mach-E with BlueCruise (has eye scanner) and now a Telluride... it's not "hands-free" but it's relatively hands free if that makes any sense compared to Tesla/Toyota/VW where those systems tend to nag a bit too often if you don't touch the wheel.
I definitely want a Rivian with...
All that matters is shareholders - you can't tell them... we're going to lose $20K per EV for 3+ years.
I suspect Rivian will pull a Tesla/Ford/VW... and build higher profit trims (read: new orders at full price) once production ramps up to expected levels. Budget builds or older orders will...
Their reputation isn’t dirt already? They only reversed the price hike due to massive outcry and media coverage. Toyota and Ford already are planning to charge for App functionality and BlueCruise.
Plenty of ways Rivian can nickel and dime owners:
Pay for OTA
Pay for firmware updates
Pay for navigation/services
Pay for warranty after 2 years.
Pay for app
All of the above might be "free" for the $90K owners but not the $72K ones.
