1.5 years, 30k miles. A few small issues along the way, but nothing that has left me stranded. Rivian has been a joy to work with in every interaction. I would likely buy another Rivian vehicle in the future.
I know that feeling so well. I sold my tan '78 BJ40 to a guy in Buellton and I regretted it like a week after I parted from it. I still think about tracking him down.
I love the mustard yellow. That is what started it all for me. My best friend in high school salvaged an '82 FJ40 in mustard...
Is the desiccant user serviceable in our trucks? Thinking about post warranty serviceability of what sounds like an achilles heal.
I've (knock wood) avoided any suspension related errors 30k miles in, but am bummed to see that they are evidently common based on comments in this thread.
Ya, this is surprising to me also. My 70 series is eastern euro poverty pack spec with precisely zero intelligence. Ironic, given my profession as an embedded engineer that this would be preferable, but from a reliability perspective it absolutely is.
Sorry about all of this, Josh. Seems like...
x2 re dedicated, hard wired level 2 EVSE at home. 60A breaker will allow for 48A charging (0.8 * breaker rating). I always keep my mobile EVSE in my truck for, well, mobile usage...PITA to use that as your only EVSE and it only delivers 32A.
WallBox makes nice equipment. It will allow for...
30k miles, 65xx VIN. 18 months in. Four customer service interactions so far. 1 mobile, the remainder in person. Mobile was for recall.
In person interactions were for annoyances, windshield replacement, tire replacement.
One of the annoyances was actually made worse by unintended damage...
SOH (State of Health) is an imperfect metric and I would absolutely take it with a grain of salt.
I have seen massive variation between how different battery vendors implement their state of health algorithms on their BMS.
The only "real" way to know the SOH is to do a complete 100% to 0%...
Please for the love of god, nobody create any service tickets regarding the information they see in this menu.
This is an internal diagnostic tool that happens to have some interesting metrics for certain subsystems that Rivian doesn't natively display to the user.
If there is any chance...
I am a big advocate of energy storage at these DCFC sites: 1) relatively quick payback for the operator when demand charges and TOU are taken into account; 2) gives more flexibility for siting as you install more charging capacity than you have grid capacity; 3) gives some buffer for grid...
That seems like a pretty problematic design if they can't properly recover from a power cycle.
Evidently they were at least partially connected to the Internet given that it didn't necessitate a truck roll, but still it shouldn't be the case that a power cycle causes a prolonged initialization.
I used the Kettleman EA station on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, followed by the Manteca RAN and the Sac RAN before arriving in Tahoe. All of the stops were problem free.
I came home (Santa Barbara) on Sunday (two days ago) intending to follow the same route. Looking at the EA station in...
I'm honestly shocked as to how little frustration it sounds like there has been here.
I drove from Santa Barbara to Tahoe on Sunday without issue utilizing Kettleman City EA, Manteca RAN and Sac RAN without issue, but I was convinced the situation would devolve midweek.
Happy to hear that...
Interesting. Sounds super similar.
I’m 5k miles later now and probably DCFC-ed 2 dozen times since. No recurrence.
I left the truck with service while I was on a trip and they assured me there was nothing wrong with the vehicle after thorough inspection.
Seems to be a transient issue with over...
