I added my Mach E to the Tesla app today, and if I tell it I already have the adapter, it shows most of the V3 sites in the app and has a Charge Here button for those. So it could potentially work without Plug & Charge.
Interestingly, there are some busy V3 sites not showing up.
I am getting my adapter in April, but can test if the Tesla app or the Ford app allow payment regardless of the vehicle type. As soon as my Mach E gets the OTA for Plug & Charge at Tesla, it is rolling out today, I will see if that works at Magic Dock sites.
Mine is on low setting for towing and it always remembers it for all three of my trailers, as soon as I connect them. I have a 6 in drop on my receiver and low is the best setting to have the trailers level.
I have charged at Tesla using my iPhone app, no issue at all. It has the Charge your non-Tesla screen right on top, it is not the standard charge your EV.
Too bad they do not allow Rivian owners to charge their non-Rivians on the RAN now. It would make for a good beta test program. Quite a few non-Tesla models have uncovered communications issues with the Magic Docks already.
I was at an EA site last weekend with my Hummer and was 4th in line...
I had a Tesla charger only give me 34kw, had to move to another charger, so just like the EA experience. I have actually never had an EVGO charger give me a very low power output, but I have seen broken units.
I do not think it was actually implemented, tried it yesterday on a few interchanges and it drops just like it did before. There is nothing in the final release notes about it, but I think it was mentioned before the update came out.
Oddly enough the Glendale AZ magic dock site is in a parking lot between Lowes, a bank and a Taco Bell. The chargers are very CCS friendly with two pull throughs as well.
Ford also shows it, but then they have Plug and Charge for EA, so they connect to the EA servers from the Ford servers for payment processing.
Edit: Porsche and Lucid also support P&C on EA.
I had the opposite issue last weekend, my truck stayed on in my garage for 4 hours. It was plugged into the charger, lights were on and AC was running. No seatbelts latched and all doors closed. I opened and closed every door, tried locking it with the fob and walking away. My truck is in a...
Ford just announced payment for Superchargers will be via the FordPass app, not plug and charge. FordPass can already be used to pay for charging on all the major charging networks, all billing is via my Ford account.
The claim was it was initiated via the Fordpass app, if so , I can use that with my Rivian and it should work. Tesla may need some software updates on their side to support P&C, i.e. ISO 15118. Ford does support that with EA today. With the Fordpass app you can initiate charges on EVGO, EV...
