There is way more that 4 inches of the middle portion of the telescopic crossbars showing on my R1T, so much so I have a whole additional bike rack clamped on that part of of the crossbars.
Except the thickness of the aluminum tailgate is not much more than an aluminum can... I closed by tailgate one handed exactly one time shortly after I bought the truck... Been looking at a slight ripple in the metal ever since if the light hits it just right. Being aluminum it's not receptive...
Yes. There's a toggle for "rear accessory mode" that is for this exact use case. Toggle that on and it no longer thinks you have a trailer plugged in.
Adaptive cruise and hands free work normally.
Not recommended, but I have used the toggle with my small utility trailer plenty of times. I...
Ahh, this makes sense then why I already had updated and just got a notification to update again this afternoon.
FWIW I didn't have any issues, drove 500 miles this weekend, got stuck in 2 plus feet of snow on a UP fire road, also forded 18 inches of water on a flooded road up there...
I had the alignment corrected on my r1 at around 2k, so I had mobile service come out at around 10k miles to do a rotation per the schedule, they measured the depth all around and said it didn't need it, go to go another 7500.
I have a very similar setup except a third one in the middle. I have two of the three facing backwards to help keep them from wiggling around as much. Oddly I have no pictures...
This is very similar to my experience, except a little worse with 3 bikes versus two. I have a set of 1 Ups mounted to the bed cross rails as well as a rockymounts monorail hitch rack set up for 3 bikes.
One thing to consider with the hitch mount racks is the R1T tailgate gooseneck hinges, I...
Honest question. How to you keep an expensive looking contraption affixed to your windshield from getting stolen?
With previous cars, I've had my window smashed for much less.
Planning one time purchase since I'm going to hang on to the vehicle long enough to more than break even.
As it was last month I already found it useful enough on the two lane rural highways I drive to pay for it. With the Feb update they definitely made improvements, despite the release notes...
Well aware, I have that issue with the 7 to 4 adapter I have as it's a little loose and some times takes a little wiggle to get the lights going. This one was definitely all the way in and locked by the tab on the plug cover.
Reviving this tread after my towing experience today.
I was towing a toy hauler flatbed hauling a crew cab UTV, so the truck put the weight at around 4500 lbs, which seems right. The trailer has electric brakes, and also led lighting.
Took a few tries to get the truck to see the trailer, then...
I have one of those pretty inexpensive Mach 1 L2 chargers off of Amazon. It's wifi enabled and pairs easily with the smartlife app, which is what pretty much every generic "smart" device out of China works with, so no extra apps. You can adjust output and see real amp draw from the app.
We...
I'm still shocked Ford charges essentially the same pricing for just hands free mapped highway assist only.
Wonder if once UHF is pay walled, the pre UHF Rivian hands free highway assist, sans lane change, will be the free option.
If the R2 receiver hitch is as beefy as the R1, you will need to replace the Rocky mounts hitch pin/anti wobble bolt hitch lock setup with a longer one, as it's juuuust a little too short for the lock to engage.
The maxxhaul 50563 works and is inexpensive. I picked it up off Amazon.

I just got a cheap adjustable rack off Amazon and used some u bolts to attach to the factory crossbar lugs.
There is no fuse box on the Gen 2, it's all electronic.
I accidentally soft shorted (let the fuse block flop onto a painted metal surface under the seat) my 12v when installing a powered sub in my T... Oh boy, the computers did not like that. I was getting water intrusion errors, high voltage...
