I think geographically CA being at or near the top of the list is a no brainer...selfishly I am hoping the DMV has enough orders to be in the top 5 locations. We definitely aren’t a Mecca of outdoorsy types. Clearly large population centers will play a part for shipping efficiency
What are the guesses on which geographic areas deliver first. I would say high population centers in combination with proximity to Normal. Do we know where they are furthest along building out experience centers?
I also noticed that they have upped the storage for the R1 from 101 on my LE configuration to 108 on the website. I think others have noted that the length of the R1 has increased and this may be the end result
I am all about V2H...that would be an awesome feature with the caveat that additional electrical work would be need at the panel. Regardless, better than 7.5k backup generator for the few times needed per year. V2G however; that to me doesn’t make much sense unless the utilities are paying a...
The R1’s would have to be 25% less efficient than a MX to exceed 450wh @70mph (ideal conditions, 20”) RJ seemed very confident in the aero of the vehicles and the weight is not dramatically more...hoping we get 450wh or better
I hope you are right with better than expected ranges... my guess is that the 20” AT come in at roughly 305, 22” @ 312, and 21 AS @ 320. This would be EPA combined. Hoping for this and a few Kwh release from buffer to offset degradation in use.
I think you are right. I am hoping that after they gather better data with the packs they are able to access some buffer to offset degradation - I think Audi was able to do his with the e tron once they gained more comfort. I am apprehensive that 300+ will be more like 200-225 in practical use...
https://teslike.com/ I’ve referenced this chart to gain a sense. Personally, I would be disappointed if range is <90% @70mph with ideal conditions, no elevation gain, etc
Jut creating dialogue - and I’ve reviewed the HVAC patent which is available online. If Rivian has come up with something as efficient as a heat pump concept I’ll stand corrected. I haven’t seen any patents which would suggest this. When driving the vehicle after a certain amount of time waste...
Hello again Eric,
Thank you for waiting patiently while I researched your question further. Rivian vehicles do not come equipped with heat pumps. Instead, the R1S and R1T feature an HVAC system with quad-zone temperature control for adjustable cabin comfort. These are, of course, tested for...
I asked CS months ago and it was confirmed by someone else that asked as well. Like most here I am super excited about owning a Rivian; however, I have a very specific trip distance that I want to make here in the mid Atlantic and three hundred miles is the minimum needed to account for this...
The vast majority of owners will not be operating their vehicles in that use case. I am glad they are testing the tails, but they should have implemented a heat pump given it is existing, proven, and three times more efficient
And they are using resistance heat and not a heat pump which makes no sense in most use cases. Today you can find heat pumps that operate in low single digits F
I just hope they aren’t reaching for the 21’s to be right over the 300 mark with minimal to no buffer. We know that in the first 50k or so we will see 2-5% degradation. That is why I am concerned that they’ve come out with the pack being less than 135kwh
Seems reasonable - so if we take 428Wh the usable pack size would need to be at least ~128.5Kwh. If you assume they will have a buffer this gets us right back to 135 pack size.
Starting a thread to discuss specs around the 2170 cells and overall pack capacity. I am fascinated with the tech side and specifically the cell chemistry and the wh per cell. I am also intrigued with the change in language using “large” pack vs. actual kwh capacity. Recently we’ve received...
