Explore club, checking in!
I too share your concern.
I do take comfort in the fact that explore is still offered after they reviewed all their options and prices.
Better up front planning over the last 2 years.
Redundant suppliers.
Alternative component options.
Others are successfully mitigating this.
Rivian is saying “wow, buying parts for cars is hard guys!!”.
Interesting.
On the one hand I can understand not giving everyone a bonanza of “add all the options at a (now) 20% discount”.
But on the other hand let us change something that has no real cost to Rivian, i.e. paint color.
Hard to draw that line though.
This is a really interesting point. It seems that now the pricing is being held for existing orders, Rivian should try to get the dual motor spooled up way faster. 2024 is a LONG time from now. Lightning Gen 2 will be nearing reveal.
I feel particularly bad for the hardcore fans who took up 175 DSP shares and are still holding them based on the long term potential.
I only bought 1 DSP share just for the fun of being a part of the IPO since it didn’t meet my investing plan, but I was definitely tempted.
But this disaster...
At this point, dual motor feels like another completely made up, theoretical Rivian product that may or may not ever exist, and if it does will probably be delayed 2-3 years.
I can’t stop thinking about RJ’s comments about these vehicles / this phase of the company being their “handshake with the world.”
Turns out it was a sucker punch handshake.
I just did. Since this is clearly a pretty recent truck, this seems to confirm that the final Forest green is the more “golden” version, and not the emerald tone of the very early FG.
