  1. Rivian Files For IPO Valued at $80 Billion! UPDATE: S-1 Filed

If they stick to their $80B valuation, don't worry about getting in on the IPO. You'll surely be able to buy it soon afterward on the open market for less. I love Rivan and everything they're doing, but $80B is awfully ambitious at this stage in their life cycle.
  2. Rivian Files For IPO Valued at $80 Billion! UPDATE: S-1 Filed

Tesla's market cap @ IPO was $1.7B, which provided a lot more upside than Rivian's hoped for valuation.
  3. Rivian Files For IPO Valued at $80 Billion! UPDATE: S-1 Filed

$80B is higher than Ford, GM, and Stellantis, and they have a limited product line, no public sales, no track record, etc. Much as I love the company and am looking forward to getting my Rivian, I'd rather short it @ $80B.
  4. R1S XL?

My original reservation was for the R1T, and I since switched to the R1S so it could fit in my garage and be more maneurable off-road. I'd prefer they ditch the 3rd row and make it sized closer to a Bronco or Wrangler.
  5. Wheel and color selection will affect your Rivian production / delivery timing - says Guide

Here's a secret you probably don't know. TIre Rack also stocks tires for private parties not shown as available to the public. When I had a Porsche, the OEM tires were a special Porsche-exclusive variant, and my local Porsche dealer was able to have them overnighted from Tire Rack's private...
  6. 5 Seat versus 7 seat

True, but the R1S may have a lower rear cargo floor vs the R1T's bed height to maximize cargo space.
  7. Paint color commitment...

I don't want to be one of the first deliveries, b/c I expect that quality will improve as they work out the kinks of mass production.
  8. Off Roading Question:

I believe that the Rivians' bigger shortfall in off-roading will be lack of articulation, not traction.
  9. Section 179 Tax write off for heavy trucks

I've previously confirmed GVWR w/ Rivian, and it's well over 6K lbs.
  10. Off Roading Question:

I rented a Rubicon in Moab, and the rental folks advised you really don't need lockers for much in Moab since the rocks have so much grip. Regardless, the quad motor setup s/b able to replicate and even outperform lockers since each wheel speed/torque/direction can be individually controlled...
  11. Adventure vs Explore R1S

I sure hope not, as it would mean more weight, more stuff to potentially break, and more unnecessary use of battery capacity.
  12. Real world Off Roading Pros/Cons

One of the more recent off-road vids displayed what looked like relatively poor wheel articulation, which combined w/ the weight, makes me think this is going to be better as an overlander than for serious wheeling or dune blasting. The Bronco, OTOH, is looking like it's going to be super fun...
  13. anyone else hate the 20" R1S wheels?

I greatly prefer the R1T 20's. It's kind of crazy you can pay even more for the R1S wheels in black on the R1T and get an uglier wheel for more. I wish they'd just make the R1T 20" wheel their only 20" design.
  14. Tank Turn-Anyone heard more about this?

Go back to the Cybertruck's release date and compare how many updates Tesla has provided on it vs Rivian on the R1T and R1S. I don't think that's a fair assessment.
  15. Fire TV in the future?

If you're just relaxing while re-charging, don't underestimate how nice it is to have a single sceen everyone can watch in a central position, pumping home-theater quality sound. We have several tablets in our family, but they can't compete with the theatrical experience of our Model 3's screen...
  16. Driver+

I love driving as well, and have a Miata which I track frequently for the full driving experience. But, on long road trips and in heavy traffic, FSD in my Tesla makes getting from point a to b a lot more relaxing and less stressful. I don't expect Driver + to be nearly as good as Tesla's FSD...
  17. Does Anyone on this forum also have a Mustang Mach E Reservation?

I bought my Tesla from Texas, where direct sales are also illegal. Tesla made it easy - it was simply a CA sale, and once the sale was complete, they loaded it on a transporter and delivered it at their local Tesla service center, where a rep went over the car thoroughly w/ me and I had the...
  18. 5 Seat versus 7 seat

Even if they manage to engineer the 3rd row seats to fold flat, think about how much space those seats consume while folded. Then, imagine having a sub-floor hidden compartment (&/or extra battery capacity) in that freed-up space on the 2 row version. They've not just going to leave a hollow...
  19. Cyber Truck has been delayed

I'm a day 1 reservation holder and haven't receieved any emails about a delay. Maybe the fact that I already own a Tesla could have something to do with that.
  20. % Breakdown of LE Reservations

I don't think any Rivian non-insiders even know that.
