  1. Possible Accessory Costs - How much will my R1T really be?

I think he's on to something. 4/AWD vehicles generally strongly encourage having identical tires with similar wear (within 1-2 mm) on all four wheels. My understanding is persistent differences at each wheel cause friction/heat within the differentials and ultimately lead to premature wear and...
  2. Does R1T 2nd Row fold?

That's the early information I was referring to that may have changed. Since they are no longer calling the packs a specific size, and since they have walked back entirely on having a max pack that intrudes into the R1S cabin, it's possible that they have also changed the layout of the R1T max...
  3. Does R1T 2nd Row fold?

We have not seen the production spec, and this may have changed (this photo is from the original prototypes). It's been hinted that they changed course on pack layout/placing/sizing (thus the now-flat R1S), so this might have been fixed. We won't know for sure until they share the finalized...
  4. What size is the AC aux power inverter in the R1T?

I don't think that information has been released. All we know is: "The R1T includes a 110v outlet in the center console, gear tunnel and two in the truck bed." We also know they'll have a typical household rating of 15A. It's quite possible that those are driven by a single, shared circuit...
  5. Can we talk about range again?

It's choosing that longer route to pick up a mid-way charge. If the trip is possible on the shortest route, this is probably your inputs (e.g., arrival SoC) being optimized for. For some (especially longer) trips, more distance will be faster overall. This is especially true if the longer...
  6. The One Dealbreakers Thread to Rule Them All

I don't believe they have confirmed the two outlets will be different circuits. It's quite possible the 15A limit will be shared across all of the outlets.
  7. Can we talk about range again?

Focusing on the road trip case, you can charge up to 100% for the beginning of your day. Since you'll be using that energy right away, it shouldn't be a major concern for long term health of your battery (and, caveat all of the bits about not having official recommendations from Rivian for their...
  8. Spotted R1T @ San Jose Whole Foods

Whole Foods falls into the bucket of "places I would be willing to stop en route for 20-30 minutes on a road trip". Costco, less so. I wouldn't be using the chargers at my local Whole Foods, but we did stop at quite a few of them when we were traveling around the country in our Sprinter.
  9. Does the Forest Edge interior match ANY exterior paint color besides Launch Green?

We honestly didn't love any of the interior options, at least not as they're represented in the configurator renderings. Hopefully they look better in person... Forest Green comes across as a bit dingy with the pea green throughout, though it was our favorite colored wood accent. Ocean Coast we...
  10. Battery voltage confirmed: 400V-450V

Thanks for the chart. I was trying to find something like that but coming up blank.
  11. Battery voltage confirmed: 400V-450V

What if the charger doesn't go up to 800V? Plenty of existing stations out there max out at 500V. Supporting the max amperage at 400V would improve your experience in that situation. I'm not saying 400V-only isn't the most likely conclusion. But it is an unconfirmed extrapolation based on the...
  12. Battery voltage confirmed: 400V-450V

It also says "over" and "sustained" implying room for a higher peak. It may well be the case that the pack is only 400V and maxing out at 200kW, but the language used, rally photo, and omitted info doesn't actually rule out the 400V/800V switching technology. If they can switch, why couldn't...
  13. 12V Battery Drain...you don't use it you lose it.

Our Volt shares this design flaw. The 12V converter only switches on when the vehicle is "running". Meaning the J1772 charging does not keep the 12V battery topped off. Yeah, discovering we needed to "jumpstart" our vehicle that had been plugged in to wall power for a few weeks was a lovely time.
  14. WA bill to allow direct sales appears dead (again)

I believe Tesla began operating in WA under a loophole that didn't specifically ban subsidiaries from operating. Tesla is allowed to continue operating, but the loophole has been closed to any future manufacturers.
  15. WA bill to allow direct sales appears dead (again)

Sigh, yeah. I'm fairly confident it's dead, but I've seen a fair bit of chatter from hopeful people because the vote hadn't occurred. I posted this to rain on their collective parades and call attention to the fact that the vote isn't going to happen. And to seek commiseration.
  16. WA bill to allow direct sales appears dead (again)

I'm not a WA legislative wonk, but looking at the legislative calendar, bills are required to be passed out of committee and read into the record of their house of origin by February 15th to be able to proceed in the 2021 session. That day came shortly after the February 10th hearing and no...
  17. Only 85 Days until the start of deliveries

Agreed. I don't expect the retail experience centers to have anything to do with LE deliveries, and I don't really expect the RAN to be live in any significant way when the first LEs are delivered either. Early service/warranty issues are probably the biggest challenge, but with very few...
  18. Rivian Service Centers / Retail Locations List / Other Facilities (Pics & Updates)

They will likely still have a show room. It's the same game Tesla played... you can come in, look at, even test drive a vehicle. You just won't be sold one. To purchase, you're told that you can go visit rivian.com.
  19. Cold Weather Testing | Progress Report | Rivian - Official Video

Our Volt is rated 53 miles electric-only. If I keep the speed around 60 mph and the temps are mild (50-80 F), I can easily exceed 60 electric-only miles. But if I'm going 70 in the rain when it's under 40 degrees out? Yeah... it's about 35 miles. In those conditions and at those speeds, you...
  20. Possible Skid Guard sighting in Rivian Video

Easy on the hyperbole... no dollars will be harmed. They'll all be alive and well, just not in your wallet. Accessory to grand theft, maybe (because, let's face it, it won't be offered at petty theft prices).
