I met a guy in the parking lot at the store yesterday who was driving a Polestar 3. I asked him how he liked it and he said it was great- it's his second one.
Too bad they are $20k overpriced. I liked the looks of it alot. Does anyone know if it has a tow hitch for a bike rack?
I hope so. Heated headlamps could be evaluated now (or before now) during testing. Seems like it should be something simple to embed a thin heated wire in headlight lens. But probably easy to overlook.
Agree. My June 2023 R1S acceleration was very unresponsive. I had to practically floor it to get decent acceleration. And backing up in the first gen R1S made me think I was going to go through the garage wall. Tesla has it just about right.
I wont' buy the R2 if the accelerator mapping...
New adaptive headlights are very cool. Any intel on heated headlights that don't get covered when driving through falling snow? As far as a I know, most all LED headlights have this issue. The old halogens are melt the snow as soon as a flake hits the headlight.
I am a former R1S owner. I live in Phx and couldn't take sub-par AC and 8-10 week service appts. If I lived almost anywhere else, I would still own my R1S.
Can someone tell me– did Rivian change the accelerator mapping so you don't need to mash the accelerator so hard when you need instant...
I live in Phx and had to sell my R1S last year, mainly due to AC problems. The vehicle's AC just never got cool (certainly not cold), even with pre-conditioning. All my other vehicles cool reasonably well in 116°F heat. Maybe the electrochromatic roof will help in the new gen 2 R1 vehicles...
Short answer: Model S.
Long Answer: I had a 9.5 year old 2014 Model S that was the best car I've ever owned. I'm 60 and I've owned LOTS of cars. I was going to keep it until the Jeep Wagoneer S was available, but I got an email from Tesla indicating that I could keep free supercharging if I...
I know pre-cooling is a common strategy with EVs. I've owned EVs for over 10 years. But if the AC isn't working properly, you can pre-condition for an hour and if the vehicle never cools down, you're stuck with a HOT vehicle. Then if service is backed up for 6 weeks, then delays another 2...
Excellent. I am happy for you. As I mentioned, I couldn't get a service center appointment for >8 weeks last summer. That's too long in 110°F heat. Since, I have to park outside all day AND the AC pre-cooling/cooling in general wasn't working properly, I got tired of being drenched in sweat...
Thanks. I'm not sour on Rivian. I hope they succeed. We need more EVs. Don't understand Elon's decision to slow SC expansion...but that's another thread!
I DID notice that the vent locations are different in the R2. Vent locations were part of the problem for the R1 cooling...
Sorry for delay in responding. I made an appointment with service center. They were 6 weeks out. Then within a week of my appointment, service center contacted me and informed me that I needed to wait another 2 weeks. Ugggh. Keep in mind that Phx is 105°F to 110°F during the summer. So, I...
Tesla doesn't HAVE to do anything. They built their charging network for their vehicles.
My thinking is that EV and Rivian proponents (most people on this forum?) want to transition FASTER to better options for charging, so manufacturing vehicles that are able to conveniently use the current...
Over 17,000 individual Superchargers in the US.
https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/advice/tesla-supercharger-guide
But only about 400 RAN chargers
That's > 40:1 ratio.
I wonder what was behind the decision to locate the charging port on the passenger rear instead of passenger front?
The reality is that Tesla's supercharging infrastructure is so far ahead of everyone else's (EVGo, Blink, EA, charge point) that most other vehicle manufacturers decided to adopt NACS charging port. So, why not put the port divers side rear or passenger front? Hope they change it. Best would...
My mileage did vary. I'm in Phx and the combination of our heat, the R1S glass roof (tinted with best photosync plus you can buy) and the stupid placement of vents under the center display caused me to sell my R1S that I waited 3.5 years for.
I will be curious to see if they make the same...
It's difficult to tell from the picture. Is the R1S using an the stall that belongs to that charger or an adjacent stall? If a Tesla vehicle were to pull up next to it (drivers side of the Rivian) would it be able to charge, or is the R1S using their next door neighbor's charging cable?
