  1. OS 2026.31 Arriving today!

How is it that the updates always get pushed the day before we’re leaving on a road trip?
  2. Searching for a Wakeshield Topper

As far as I can tell, they’re gone. I think I got one of the very last ones they made. It’s a real shame, because it’s a great product!
  3. 2023 R1S Front Upper Ball Joint Separated at ~63K — XCare Denied Claim for Water/Corrosion.

Clearly neglect! You neglected to make the appropriate sacrifice to the appropriate god, and now your truck is broken. 100% on you.
  4. 2026.31 Update: RivianOS 2 Release Notes

I bought them through Rivian, and had them installed at a service center. They updated it for me. However I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to be able to do it yourself now.
  5. 2026.31 Update: RivianOS 2 Release Notes

It’s specifically called out in the app, and you can reset the counter if you rotate or change the tires out of schedule.
  6. Comma Extreme Dev Kit NOW AVAILABLE

Yes. The extreme dev kit includes its own harness. I just installed mg extreme dev kit, which involved completely removing the comma harness I’d been using previously. I believe everything ships from the US, and you should be fine.
  7. Rivian GPS or app location all screwey

Well, whatever the problem was, navigation worked fine when I started driving, and now the location is accurately reflected in the app. Probably some weird reset on the server and since my R1 was asleep it didn’t update it until I got in.
  8. Has anyone have any advice on PPF for Windshield? OPTI-Glass

I asked about it when I got my tint done, and the guy said he didn’t recommend it, and not to expect it to last more than six months. This was in Maryland, where rock strikes are not common at all. Presumably the lifespan would be even less the more rocks hit it. I recently had a rock strike...
  9. Rivian GPS or app location all screwey

It would be, but it’s also using the wrong location to try and plan routes. Which doesn’t work very well…
  10. Rivian GPS or app location all screwey

Ah, I just noticed that the app still says it’s parked at home, so it seems like the truck knows where it is, it’s just an issue with either communicating that to Rivian’s servers, or with the app retrieving it.
  11. Rivian GPS or app location all screwey

Hopefully Gary takes some pictures, so I can see when the truck decides to come home!
  12. Rivian GPS or app location all screwey

Either my R1T has decided to take itself on a cruise off the coast of Africa, or something is up with the vehicle or app. In both the Rivian app and ABRP apps, the truck shows up as being at what looks like it’s probably 0° by 0°. This obviously screws with things like trip planning. Is this a...
  13. Cargo Trailer Freeway Efficiency

I missed the R2 part, the rest of it would otherwise be close enough to be helpful in estimating. There was no specific trailer asked for, just ā€˜cargo trailer’, so a small travel trailer is similar. I guess I won’t bother digging up the trailer specs to see how similar, since it’s the wrong tow...
  14. Cargo Trailer Freeway Efficiency

I recently towed my 21’ travel trailer for the first time with my R1T (dual). Should be a reasonable facsimile for a cargo trailer, though taller. (It’s a No Boundaries 16.6.) It was just a short round trip of about 80 miles. Got about 1.4 miles per kWh. Average speed was about 55 going...
  15. Adventure Pilot using Comma AI - review by Out of Spec

Well so far, I’m liking AdventurePilot! The angle-based steering is noticeably better on our mountain roads, and might be a game changer with MADS. Haven’t tried turning on longitudinal control yet, but I’ll give that a shot next.
  16. Adventure Pilot using Comma AI - review by Out of Spec

Ok, thanks! I’m looking forward to trying out AdventurePilot, as I’ve generally found that I prefer OpenPilot to Sunnypilot, and am hoping the Rivian optimizations make AP the way to go (especially if the longitudinal is better, immediately reverted to using Rivian’s ACC after trying the...
  17. Adventure Pilot using Comma AI - review by Out of Spec

It's been a couple months since the branches were renamed, and I only just finally got my extreme dev harness installed, so is it still the case that stg-a is the only option for angle-based steering with AdventurePilot, or has the been merged into other branches by now?
  18. Emporia Pro EVSE suddenly tripping breaker

Well there you go. We are only just above the limit, but according to Schneider (we have Square D breakers), that would reduce our rated continuous current and voltage (which, now that I think about it, probably explains why our voltage is always a little lower than I’d expect, currently about...
  19. Emporia Pro EVSE suddenly tripping breaker

I did not even think about that! We’re at about 6800’, and this is definitely the hottest month that I’ve used it in. I’ll check the manual for the EVSE, and see if they have any recommendations on adjusting for altitude. And also have the electrician give it a once over, of course.
  20. Emporia Pro EVSE suddenly tripping breaker

It’s hardwired already, we’re in a high fire risk area, and pretty far out in the middle of nowhere, so I wanted to minimize the chance of issues.
