I just learned that Rivian switched its battery chemistry (non-LFP) from NMC to NCA? Did anyone else know this? I recall them mentioning a change in packaging some time ago that helped improve range but had no idea it was more than that. Does the higher energy density explain the performance...
Based on the Hilux. I know the Hilux is very popular worldwide but its a lot more than the ICE version. Not impressed at the price and specs but what do you think?

Not an April Fools joke, is it?
I haven't heard anyone mention this from Rivian but wondering if it might be possible. Especially now that R2 specs and images are out, I noticed all the vehicle images have the LiDAR "notch" that we saw during Autonomy Day but we know they won't ship with LiDAR. Could that mean its upgradable...
For me its definitely the new steering wheel. While the R1 steering wheel is nice, its not amazing. I think the user interface with the large dials, dynamic clicks and haptic feedback is going to be a game changer for the driving experience.
The second would have been the fold flat front seats...
Rivian recently rolled validation builds off their production line. I'm guessing this will mean they'll eventually start showing up at Service Centers for techs to get familiar with them and learn how to service them, along with of course employees and testers testing them on the road. Just...
This is very concerning considering Gen2 has gone a similar route with the power actuated door handles as Tesla. Especially worrying is the interior back doors. Everyone needs to knows exactly how to open this door in case of emergency.
Rivian too simply copies Tesla design and needs to slow...
Was at one of the Rivian Spaces and an employee told me the R2 is going to be delayed until end of 2026 or even possibly early 2027. Has anyone else heard about this?
They wouldn’t tell me the reason why. Not sure if it’s a supply or manufacturing issue. If I had to guess I’d say it’s because...
I found this 3rd part product the other day. Wanted to see if anyone had bought it and can confirm it works.

I dunno who it was but someone used my referral code. First one! Appreciate you.
I wish Rivian would provide that info in our account so we can properly thank the person.
All items sold except for the tire. I'm located in the PNW area, near Seattle/Bellevue. Would prefer local pickup. Can send more pics, just DM me.
If you purchase the tire, I will throw in the floor mats.
OEM Pirelli 20" AT Tire (new, never used) - $300
OEM Chilewich Floor Mats (new, came with...
Anyone know if you can purchase just the charging base without the Torch (flashlight)? I saw a thread where someone made a DIY charger but not interested in doing that. Checked on ebay and nothing.
I'm on the stock 20" OEM Pirelli 275/65R20 tires. Have 33k miles and about 6/32 treadwear left. Not sure what tire to get next but likely will replace the Pirelli's with something else.
Curious to know what other tires folks went with and why.
Ever since the last update 2025.10.1, my alarm gets triggered randomly and repeatedly. My phone will get the notification every few minutes. When i check my cameras there is no one nearby and Gear Guard has not captured anyone nearby. My vehicle is undamaged and seemingly undisturbed. This has...
New drive unit teased by RJ. Will be simpler and cheaper to product than Enduro. Exciting times as we get closer to R2. Hope to see mules out testing in the wild sometime later this year.
Is this some collab with Rivian and Slate or this is just some bad render job with someone stealing the wheels from Rivian? These images show the truck with the exact same range wheel design from the R1T/R1S Gen2...
Shout out to Rivian for leading the US auto industry on this. This needs to be adopted more widely, especially as headlights get brighter and obscure visibility.

A few other interesting tidbits:
The same 8 colors that are available now (maybe Rivian will add another special color)
4 seat color options
4 wood trim options
This seems new. I know the wheel and interior color options changed with the intro of the Tri motor but didnt realize the exterior colors were also now limited. Lowest trim, Dual Standard, now only has 5 color options. No Limestone, Rivian Blue or Red Canyon.
I'm all for simplification if...
