If you have been shopping the shop, what's your impression of inventory? My thoughts are 1) Very few standard+. Standard isn't a great choice for cold climates, so the lack of standard+ is surprising. 2) Few more expensive vehicles configurations have premium audio 3) They make a big effort to...
Who wants a 2023 $100K mid size pickup with a $10K near worthless option? Nows your chance.
Rivian doesn't often make obviously avoidable errors. But their solution to delivering on max pack is certainly one. R!T max pack is priced similarly as the Silverado EV RST with 220+ kwh battery.
The...
Anyone using a separate 12V system, especially to run refrigeration? My concern is excess drain of the main battery while camping. I assume the 12v is off when camp mode off is used?
Anyone here done that trip in an EV? It seems to me that the primary problem with Rivian is not battery size but charge rate in MPH. An overnight on a 30A 120V connection doesn't give a full day of driving. Camping away from charging seems problematic.
I've seen a R1T on plugshare in northern...
For home backup I'm fine with 3000w peak and an ~800w average. Charging one of the systems below from the R1T while it is discharging should work for my home backup.
This setup will likely cover a 240V well pump and most 240V HVAC air handlers. No AC, of course.
I'm finally excited to see the thing enter the real world. My original order was R1S max pack. I wanted a two row long range SUV EV. Cybertruck fits that niche that Rivian abandoned. Unfortunently I won't own and drive Cybertruck based on looks.
But I'm still excited and expect it to be a...
Here's what I think Rivian should be working on that they haven't officially announced:
Winch option
Swing gate with spare for R1S (as an option)
240V 30 amp inverter option
Dashcam
Rock rails as part of underbody protection option
I'm sure the list of desirable additional software features...
My interpretation of yesterdays changes is that Rivian almost certainly intend to deliver the max pack, but that the winch's appearance any time soon is increasingly dubious. If they can't deliver well defined accessories they may not have the capacity to do the winch any time soon.
The counter...
1) What is the latest belief in how max pack will be implemented? Did the Munro teardowns reveal space in the frame where extra cells could be placed?
2) The order spreadsheets shows about 15% orders with max pack. But this includes R1S. Anyone making an estimate of current max pack backorder...
As a max pack waitee I've had time to consider other options. I'm considering a Bronco. Don't love the grill but I have had two great Fords. Anyone else found themselves "on the fence". My primary use is remote recreational travel.
EV is definitely the future, but I'm past the point where...
First, congratulations to Rivian for implementing sand mode. I encountered a new Subaru this last weekend that couldn't spin its wheels even with traction control disabled. Insanity.
Second, what are you considering for a winch? Anyone kinow the max amp draw from the two little batteries?
Rivian producing a small number of R1S struck me as odd. The best reason I can think of is that they want this model out in the wild and reviewed before the market get more crowded. Is there an alternate primary reason?
Can the truck can go faster? The battery C rate probably says yes on the large pack. The modest 200kw max charging rate perhaps suggests no.
Anyone know where in the 1/4 mile the truck hits max speed?
