The center console automatically locks when the truck is asleep (the unlock button is disabled). While it isnāt a āsafeā it is a locked container that requires extra time / tools to break into.
If youāre worried about legal transport in restricted areas (Illinois, etc.), Iād second the spare...
To be clear, mine will switch back to all-purpose (AP) on-road mode if left in off-road, but it does not change my settings for AP. My AP settings are durable as far as I can remember. (E.g. my height is never set to auto).
I carry this one. Powerbuilt 3 Ton, Jack / jackstand. I put in in the truck before my last trip to CO and it hasnāt left. I bought one of those Torin jacks (too short) and there isnāt any room for a stand with any of the bottle jacks. I am way more comfortable with something like this.
I have an R1T with 20s and feel like it is significantly worse than before. The small bump compliance is completely gone on the all-purpose soft setting. The tiniest of bumps and cracks are now harsh.
I donāt understand how my experience is so much different than others.
I just had mobile service here today (for a different reason), and I mentioned this to him. He told me it just needs lube. 30 seconds with some silicone spray later; all set.
Mine is much worse. I told Rivian customer service that it sounded like a wolverine in a blender. She said she was going to use that phrase with the engineers. Very odd that it seems to have helped some folks and made it much worse for others.
