Call A2Z if you keep having trouble. I thought I had a dud also because of vacation fail. I called when I got home and they replaced it but they said if it happens again to call them because they have tips/ troubleshooting things to try when at the charger.

Nice! Please update us if you figure out a wiring improvement! Do you have a power tonneau? If no, I recall there is a bit of space in that void and you may be able to work that angle and route behind the rear seats and into the bed. Just a thought/ idea.
