There was nothing to indicate this Factory Mode was active. The day after we took delivery, we started a ten day 2,500 mile round trip to Montana which included all of the usual winter weather. Needless to say, having 60% of a 100,000 vehicle was not appreciated.

Weird issue I've not encountered before.
I refused delivery of our G2 R1S (trading in G1 R1T) after discovering the heat pump wasn't really doing much. They took it back into the shop and checked everything and brought it out and said it was on-spec. (Mid Nov 2024). We've all seen comment...

I can already tell the 22" tire set up won't work though I see there are 3-peak options available for that size. Unlike Teslas...
The Y will charge faster (I think) for a couple of reasons, the biggest is the battery is only 57% (78 vs 135 kWh) the capacity of the Rivian. Second, I think the Tesla has a bit better battery management (read cooling) performance right now.
These stories are a bit brutal but not shocking. I'm hoping that over time, software improvements will help nudge the range a tad but just as importantly, help on charging speed. My experience so far with overall charging speed of my R1T compared to my Model Y isn't favorable to Rivian.
My wife bought a horse so I bought a R1T! It will eventually tow two horses in a horse trailer for around 6,000 pounds total weight. I don't see this being a problem for the R1T.
This may be a local grid issue. There are lots of places in the country where the grid is not exactly awesome. There might be someone at the local utility who could shed some light on it.
