Weird issue I've not encountered before.
I refused delivery of our G2 R1S (trading in G1 R1T) after discovering the heat pump wasn't really doing much. They took it back into the shop and checked everything and brought it out and said it was on-spec. (Mid Nov 2024). We've all seen comment on the pump noise etc and ours was loud but over the winter, the heating while not speedy was ok.
Got to hot weather and the thing would take 15 mins of running to start cooling. I also overall thought the R1S was a dog compared to the R1T (yes I account for Quad large vs Dual Max with performance).
Finally had enough and got them to take it in on only four weeks notice. Turns out the heat pump and sluggish performance issues were due to the delivery center (S San Francisco), not putting the vehicle in "customer mode." It was left in "factory mode."
The advisor didn't have much information about the differences specifically but the pump now cools immediately and the performance is roughly 50% better with it in customer mode. Sigh.
If any of you have insight on this or the list of differences between these modes, I'd be grateful. Resetting the software (hard and soft) and several software updates since taking delivery didn't sort out the issue. The delivery guy obviously missed a punch list item but you'd think the remote diagnostics or software update would flag this issue.
