  1. R2 unexpected Drain - 7% over 4 days.

It’s not going to sleep because Gear guard is on, which he stated. I don’t know why this post was even made by the OP honestly. His car is USING energy, by his own choice and he’s here complaining about it.
  2. R2 vs Model Y 70-MPH Highway Range Test (by Out of Spec)

But dude, it's not "so off". The rated range is not performed at 70 MPH and you and Kyle both know this! The EPA test cycle is a mix of driving conditions and averages - your criticism of the range being "off" is entirely expected and you know how this works. The EPA does need to do a better...
  3. MY2027 R1S / R1T EPA Certification

It's not about proving the motors, they're fine - it's about doing an EPA test cycle on a different platform with those motors. There will be a different EPA rated range. And, as already stated on the post above this, it would be a new SKU and would be required to go through those testing metrics.
  4. MY2027 R1S / R1T EPA Certification

Would be really interesting if they brought the R2 motors to a new model in 2028- they seem to be more efficient and more efficiently packaged as well- and yes, it would require new EPA testing (and $$$) to do so.
  5. R2 vs 1980s Golf MK1 size comparison

The wheels on that R2 are incredible. What are they? Did you change up the sizing at all as far as offset and width? It think this would look incredible with the mild lift kit that EV sport line is showing too.
  6. The GOAT of Rivian R2 reviews IS COMING!

That is absolutely not what happened - he said he’s not getting one because he doesn’t need to anymore because many of his friends will allow him to test and do reviews - so he no longer needs to buy one. There was no bitching like a baby about it.
  7. Non-semi active suspension on the R2

Hmm, according to the builder on the website - only the performance comes with the semi active dampers. Not the premium.
  8. 2027 R1 Due in August - What's Changing?

I'm sure thats true, but then you'll have to deal with all the nanny fault codes because the car can't detect or use the sensors for the air bags. I really want a model from the factory, with all the bells and whistles that it comes with normally, but with regular springs and I guess adaptive...
  9. 2027 R1 Due in August - What's Changing?

Would love a non air suspension model to come out! Most of these trucks are NOT going off road - give a much more reliable and less expensive model for us pavement princess folks!
  10. 20in wheel worse range even with all season tires?

At highway speeds it’s almost meaningless because the weight penalty of a larger wheel is gone once the wheel is spinning - the aero of the wheel will matter the most on the highway, assuming the tires are the same.
  11. Four years, four R1Ts. An adventure and a bitter-sweet cautionary tale.

Awesome write up. Thank you. Can you explain how you went through brakes like that in 20k miles? I’m at almost 100k miles in a model 3 and still not close to replacing them. What’s the difference here? I’m looking at used R1Ts… Edit - after reading it seems maybe it was either the...
  12. 20in wheel worse range even with all season tires?

No they are not wider. The 55 vs 60 refers to the sidewall height. It is a ratio OF the width of the tire. Both are the same width.
  13. 20in wheel worse range even with all season tires?

The service guy is definitely wrong. The 20 inch wheels are probably heavier, but that would only affect range around town and not on the highway. Aero (and tires) matter much more when at highway speed.
  14. 900 mile towing trip

Awesome write up. Thanks for giving details on the total experience. Also, remember that there’s also 135,000 other employees at Tesla that work hard for their money too!
  15. Parking the R2 in the garage

The vehicle does not have a creep function like the older Teslas or an ICE car has (with a torque converter). He will have to learn to feather the pedal for those small incremental movements into and out of the garage. Rivian (and Tesla) sorely need to bring back the creep function.
  16. R2 w/ LiDAR, 19-inch wheels spied

Honestly, waiting for the RAP 1 chip is better move than worrying about Lidar. That chip is what is going to enable the much improved ADAS and self driving compute needed in the future.
  17. Cancelling my Pre-order, thoughts inside from test drive

lol thats funny, I legit didn't see that.
  18. Cancelling my Pre-order, thoughts inside from test drive

I really, truly don't understand why Car Play is so important. It is a redundant process. It's simply mirroring everything that is already on your phone and connecting the phone to Bluetooth does literally everything you'd need from it anyways.
  19. Cancelling my Pre-order, thoughts inside from test drive

I'm 100 percent with you on the lack of "creep" mode. This should absolutely be a standard feature - it helps with transition from ICE and it's also just easier to drive in tight spaces, like backing out of your driveway. Creep NEEDS to be a function. Not sure I can live without it moving...
  20. R2 compact spare tire purchase

I have a spare from Modern Spare for my Tesla model 3- it has the same bolt pattern as the new R2, so thats what I'm going to use. I usually take the tire with me on road trips in my Tesla and just place it in the trunk. Its not "compact" like the R2 one, but it will work great on the R2...
