Yeah, doesn't make sense. Customer service has no idea what they are talking about. You will need to either:
a. Get an attorney to send a letter to them (or follow your states lemon law instructions, which may not require a attorney).
b. Send an email to them saying you are requesting a buyback...
I was told it was taken to a committee and it would take 2 weeks. I believe they took 3 or 4 weeks to respond with confirmation that they would replace, and another 3-4 months to actually replace.
Agree with above post. When Rivian replaced my vehicle, they did it in such a way that I was not losing tons of money. In the end i think I did lose out on a few thousand ( <$5000) but given I had 12k miles on the truck over 18 months, that seemed more than fair.
I just had to make an appointment and it was showing me appointments in January. I didn't select an appointment. Service called me to schedule and got me an appointment in October.
Give it a shot. It seems to be OK, they are just not letting you schedule in the app.
edit: I should mention...
Ignore this guy. He told me the same nonsense. I live in WA, I was told by two different attorneys it was eligible for lemon law. Rivian replaced my vehicle.
Are you a lawyer? Not sure why you keep spreading this FUD. I had my vehicle replaced in WA. I talked to an attorney in WA who told me they could absolutely proceed with lemon law.
Same issue and solution for me on my old 2022 R1T. I wouldn't wait a few weeks, water is going to cause more issues. Tell them it is a water concern and they should respond quicker.
Could be worse, my replacement vehicle for my lemon buyback had pickup cancelled < 24 hours before the appointment because they ran into something at the service center and damaged the vehicle. Hopefully they resolve for you quickly.
#1 always happened on my R1T. I assumed it was intentional.
#3 always happened as well. Button just seems unreliable.
#4 has been happening since day one on my replacement R1S and it's scheduled for service. I assume bad sensor or alignment? I thought it was trying to prevent me from getting...
In a cruel twist of fate, I was supposed to take delivery of the replacement today. Apparently, it was backed into something at the service center and damaged yesterday.
They matched me a VIN today and told me 3-5 weeks for it to arrive. Looks like the price is going to basically be a wash, so I'll just end up getting a loan for the new amount. I may see if they can include the tint/ceramic coat refund in the vehicle price so I can get a lower loan.
Thanks, this is exactly the info I was looking for. +1 on not taking it out on the guide (I have not been). It took 4 weeks to get "committee" approval, and now a few weeks after that I don't have clarity on all the remaining steps. I have a call with my guide today and hope to get details.
