  1. Cancelled my R1S Delivery

I think that certainly applies to some legacy manufactures but certainly not all. BMW and Mercedes are legacy manufactures that are making pretty great EVs. They consistently beat EPA estimates in 3rd party freeway testing. The eGMP platform from Kia/Hyundai is also quite good and offers some...
  2. Cancelled my R1S Delivery

A test that short is really useless. You’d be far better off not wasting your time doing that an instead watch some 70/75 mph range tests. For short drives like yours HVAC can dominate the power usage initially heating/cooling the car. This is more pronounced in true luxury cars because they...
  3. Cancelled my R1S Delivery

You can get a 0.0009 MF which is ~2% APR on a no-haggle BMW iX lease deal. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to find out someone got even lower on an Audi. https://pnd.leasehackr.com/d/240102-1701577165
  4. Volvo ex90 pricing and trims announced

Ultimately it may just be that someone 5’ 4” (my wife) and someone 6’ 3” fit differently in the 2nd row. Your knees hit different parts of the seats, head height is different, etc. This is why it’s so important for everyone to physically sit in a car before purchasing.
  5. Volvo ex90 pricing and trims announced

My wife had the opposite opinion about the 2nd row. I’m 6’ 7” and we need her to fit in the seat behind me. In the R1S her knees were running into the buckles on the back pocket of the front seat. She found that her legs were much more comfortable in the back seat of the ex90 with the seat...
  6. Volvo ex90 pricing and trims announced

Historically Volvo has been more accurate than Tesla. From Edmund’s testing:
  7. Volvo ex90 pricing and trims announced

Once the IRS announces the 2024 requirements Volvo will probably share that info. Right now no one knows what the exact requirements are for next year and so manufactures can’t announce anything. Also presumably the lease loophole will apply just like the EV9.

  9. CarPlay & Android Auto Smart Dash Screen has arrived! New from EVSportline.com

In the future would it be possible for you (or someone else) to write an iOS app to support passing realtime charge level to CarPlay for EV routing? https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/set-up-electric-vehicle-routing-iphc5e3a4b4b/ios iOS API...
  10. New IIHS tests with 12 year old type dummy in second row

Yeah, I’m disappointed Rivian didn’t add those safety features yet in the rear. Hopefully they add them soon.
  11. Free data ending soon?

Tesla is $99 per year so I wouldn’t expect Rivian to be much higher.
  12. Rivian CFO Confirms Substantial R1T and R1S Changes Coming in 2024

I wonder how much other stuff might change with the 2024 downtime, especially given significant electronic changes. Better cameras? Better ADAS hardware? Quad enduro?
  13. Delivery in California, registration in a differing state

Ah. So you’re trying the avoid taxes by breaking the law. Got it. Yeah Rivian isn’t going to help with that. In order to buy a NEW vehicle and avoid CA sales taxes you have to actually purchase it in another state. Any vehicle for use primarily in CA must be registered in CA. It doesn’t...
  14. Delivery in California, registration in a differing state

If you have the car delivered in CA then you will pay CA sales tax. If you are a Montana resident just have the car delivered there.
  15. Car and Driver test review: Dual Motor Rivian has similar highway range results as quad

I strongly disagree with this paragraph. A) EV and ICE efficiencies aren’t really comparable in terms of “range”. So the whole “50 year history thing” is irrelevant for a car shopper today. Just because something was done a certain way 50 years ago doesn’t mean it’s the best metric now. B) The...
  16. Car and Driver test review: Dual Motor Rivian has similar highway range results as quad

Most people care about range primarily when driving a long distance at high speed. The EPA range does not capture that metric well. Range at 75mph is the number most people really care about. If the dual motor does not increase range at high speed then for my purposes it doesn’t matter. When...
  17. Rivian introduces home delivery fee

It has to be the same for every purchaser regardless of location for a given model. However, a manufacture is not required to charge one in the first place. Also manufactures are raising destination fees so they can advertise a lower price. It should absolutely be baked into the MSRP...
  18. Price locked customers will soon be able to

Agreed. Rivian isn’t obligated to do so but I don’t think anyone will switch unless a discount is offered.
  19. Price locked customers will soon be able to

The reason I wouldn’t be surprised is that based on what we know dual motor is significantly cheaper for Rivian to produce. If they offer the user a $2k discount to switch but the vehicle costs $5k less to manufacture Rivian actually comes out ahead by $3k. From that perspective it’d be silly...
  20. Price locked customers will soon be able to

Yeah, that’s true for R1T max pack. For the large pack R1S they’ve never had that setup. Perhaps they pricing diff would be the same but maybe not.
