  1. Window out of track

I have a 2023 R1T. A year or two ago I was in Moab with my sister and brother in law. The right front window was down for some reason. I was driving at normal highway speeds. When I tried closing the right window, it went out of the track and wouldn't go all the way up. I think some other...
  2. Reserve a Slate for $50

I just saw this on Facebook and the photo is showing misalignment of the fender and hood and front. It could be deliberate. They want to show that the car is "different". I assumed it was a publicity photo so it was pretty close to the final product. I also assumed production must be pretty...
  3. Reserve a Slate for $50

You can reserve a Slate for $50. I know it's made up of interchangeable components, but the parts don't fit together very well. The fender doesn't line up with the front. Maybe that doesn't matter. Sorry, I duplicated the photo, but I can't get rid of one of them.
  4. R2 Paint Colors & Interior Colors Walkthrough -- First Live Look From SXSW Debut [VIDEO]

I would be more careful picking a color. Silly me thought limestone (the rock) was gray/tan, not blue. I read limestone and I thought "I would like that color." My house is real limestone rock and I'm positive it isn't blue. I know what limestone looks like.
  5. Ford EV Truck & Low-Cost Platform -- Specs & Details (48V, Zonal Architecture, LFP battery, Gigacasting)

Like lots of Americans, I drank the anti-EV Kool-Aid that was everywhere. I actually believed that the Ford CEO hated EV's and it was the end of their EV Future. And they talked about the billions of dollars Ford "lost" on EV's. It turns out that the billions were actually pretty normal R&D...
  6. No parts in invoice?

The thing I was looking at was the estimate invoice. The actual invoice started on page 7. The parts and labor are listed there. There was something I'm wondering about. It says "no oil present in the rear drive unit gearbox". I imagine there's supposed to be oil in it. I've never seen any fluid...
  7. No parts in invoice?

I got an invoice for my last Rivian service center visit a week or two ago. Of course, I didn't pay anything so the balance was zero. It didn't even mention parts or labor. There was something called a "harshness package". There was at least one part that wasn't in the invoice, a 200-pound...
  8. Proximity locking is annoying

I never mentioned that I use the key fob exclusively to lock and unlock the car. It seems like a lot of people use their phone exclusively and not they key fob. Maybe there is a difference in behavior when using the key fob compared with the phone.
  9. Proximity locking is annoying

I'm going to take a chance and post about something that bothers me a lot. I received a lot of criticism for my last few posts. I don't get it because we're all in the same boat. Anyway, moving on. The proximity locking and unlocking is very annoying. It constantly locks and unlocks over and...
  10. Purchased used, curious what might be missing from R1S

Check for the flashlight. You might miss it, because it's in a small round opening in the drivers side door. It's one of the most handy accessories. When it's in the door it charges automatically. I agree with previous comments about the camp speaker. If you have to pay for it don't bother...
  11. Is nine service events normal?

I'm attaching a pdf listing service items. When I said oil changes I was kidding, proving Rivian owners have no sense of humor. I don't remember two threads about the same thing. I'm 73.
  12. I bricked my R1S in the Oregon Outback - Learn from my mistake!

Actually "little lady", it's cool to see a woman on this forum. Most members seem to be men. I thought my post might seem harsh, but it's reality. "Most people" would have been horrified by what you went through. It was all avoidable. I guess it's something that newby's always go through and no...
  13. Is nine service events normal?

The 27 items doesn't count oil changes and tire rotations.
  14. Is nine service events normal?

I've had my Rivian R1T since 2023 and it has less than 50,000 miles. I've noticed that people think I'm whiny for complaining about 9 service events. I call them service events because most of them had multiple service items. There have actually been 27 items according to Rivian. That includes...
  15. Trading R1T for a Cadillac Lyriq?

People think I'm whiny because of 9 service events. I don't really get that. Is that normal for cars now? Anyway, I was after Information and I got it. Thanks. I'm 73 and Cadillac used to be a big deal. I've been thinking of driving a Cadillac Lyriq or Optiq at a dealer. I know that if I sold or...
  16. The unwanted first child (Gen 1) of a forgotten relationship?

The limitation is the cameras and other sensors. Rivian can't install more cameras or sensors unless they tack them onto the outside. Then there is the wiring. You got what you paid for at the time.
  17. I bricked my R1S in the Oregon Outback - Learn from my mistake!

Your situation is different from most people. You call it "road tripping". You don't seem to have a destination or a timetable. You seem happy as long as your EV will move from one "adventure" to the next. Most travelers want their EV charged quickly and fully (at least 80 percent). They have...
  18. Trading R1T for a Cadillac Lyriq?

I've been thinking of trading my Rivian R1T for a Cadillac Lyriq or Optiq. Is that a bad idea? Maybe 9 service events are my limit. Cadillacs are so nice and the Lyriq has gotten great reviews from just about every reviewer.
  19. Bad Drive Unit, 9th time for service. This makes EV's look bad.

Obviously you've never owned a Toyota. I have a 2017 Camry hybrid that I picked up used a year ago. Allowing for older technology, everything works great. I never have to stand by my car looking dumb for a minute while it decides to open the door. I only have to touch the handle and it unlocks...
  20. Bad Drive Unit, 9th time for service. This makes EV's look bad.

Paradoxically, the most minor problem was the worst. My Rivian was "bricked". No electrical activity whatsoever. Rivian elected to have it towed to the Salt Lake Service center. The driver was instructed not to attempt to jump it or enter it. That's what he told me. So he literally dragged it...
